A lot of people talk disparagingly about the US nuclear bombings, but they fail to acknowledge all of the good things that came out of it -- Godzilla, Mothra and Ghidorah never would have existed if we hadn't nuked our slanty eyed aggressors. It created a Golden Age of Japanese cinema that helped jump start the Jap economic recovery.
I'm pretty sure this is why, when that earthquake and tsunami hit that Jap nuclear power plant earlier this year, they made sure a fair amount of nuclear waste leaked into the ocean, hoping to reboot the whole "Nuclear Mutant Monster" franchise.
