Has anybody made it to this? I may go Sunday, haven't decided. This movie review is enough to make anyone want to see it: http://dangerguerrero.tumblr.com/post/8610131325/my-review-of-rise-of-the-planet-of-the-apes

I saw it on my birthday. It was amazing to watch.
There were a few cringe worthy moments in the movie though. Like the fact that they like the guy who also played Drako Malfoy say te line "Take your filthy paws off me you damn dirty ape!" He delivered it so awkwardly and goofy. It was probably the only epic fail moment of the whole movie. There was also something about James Franco that bothered me. It's ass if he had the same look on his face whether he was happy, sad, angry or confused.
Otherwise, the movie was amazi. John Lithgow did a brillant job portraying an older JD. lolz. And Ceasar, the CGI chimp, was like a pimp, a kingpin, Einstien and a badass MMA fighter all rolled into one. I know most of you assholes will steal this movie and watch it on your smartphones, but it's worth it to actually pay a few bucks and see it on the big screen.

Nah, I figured this one to be a theater flick. Is it in 3D?

I'm going to see this one old school this Friday...at the drive-inn theater. That and Cowboys and Aliens for $10.00. Even Cheaps would be proud!

Only if you pop your own popcorn in the trunk.
I bet you'd get a better kernel if you just popped them over the exhaust manifold.

No more speakers that hang on your window....FM transmission now so I could just bring a radio and sneak in the back like I used to do as a kid to see boobies sans the sound.

I swear to God there was a drive in prono theater in the town I grew up in. Let me know what you all think. I still like that reviewer's take.

I don't know if they did this movie in 3D. But we did see it in one of the best movie theaters in the country. It's this joint called Cinetopia. It's got a state of the art sound system and all of the movies are shown in Ultra XHD 2048 resolution digital image quality. This joint has only 4 rooms. Two of them are called the "Living room" theater and they only seat about 50 people. What's nice about this, is how the theater is laid out. You can only see the people seating directly to the side of you. You can't see people in front of you, behind you, or the people that are sitting adjacent to the people sitting beside you. Each section/booth has a leather couch, 4 leather chairs and some leather ottomans that can accommodate up to 8 people in a party. The staff will take your food orders and serve you while watching the movie.
It's pretty bitchin. Even Troll 2 would be good if you watched it in this place.
I don't know Sav, that's all well and good, but nothing beats going to the Drive-In Heaps style -- park the Heapsabago just outside the Drive In wall. Take the Jiffy Pop off the exhaust manifold, climb up to the roof of the RV, sit down in the folding lawn chair, whip out the binoculars and starting reading lips. It doesn't get any better than that IMHO.

I'll be checking it out this weekend too. Alone. Again. Just like Captain America this weekend.

Don't get me wrong, Boyd... Cinetopia is an awesome place but it definitely isn't the ultimate movie going experience for little to no cost. Unfortunately, Heapstopia hasn't made it's way out west yet. So I gotta settle for second best.

I went to see Super 8 last night in the Vue cinema on Leicester Square. Vue is a big chain, Leicester Square is their flagship theatre & Super 8 only came out here on Friday. And it's 14 quid a ticket.
The film started 20 minutes late, but only after one of the punters went out to tell staff that we were all sitting there looking at a curtain.
Then the ads start, & one of them is an advert for Orange, which has subtitles. Except that the bottom of the picture is cut off, so we can only see the top of the subs.
Eventually, the film starts. But are we seeing the whole thing or just some of the picture? It was good though. Abrams captured that early Spielberg feeling pretty well. I was getting right into it, right up until... the film stopped.
By now, I'm thinking this is just more Vue cack-handedness, & that I'm going to get my £14 each back AND see Super 8 (what a deal!), until one of the staff comes in & says there's been a power cut & we've got to evacuate the building.
Sod milling around outside. We went for a burrito & ended up watching the X-Men flick. It was pretty good.
But that, my friends, is why I never go to the cinema much anymore. Except that I've got 2 free tickets on top of the refund now, so I might go & see Planet of the Apes if it's on there.

The city's burning down and you're chillin' at the movie theater? What the f.
Then again, 3 days of riots and you've only had one death. In the U.S. that would be a statistical impossibility. I can't imagine saying, in the LA Riots in '92: "What say we go catch a movie down on Crenshaw Blvd, maybe get a burrito."
edit: just saw Boyd's post...lmao forever

Yeah, Booze, doesn't sound very patriotic if you ask me. I hope you at least looted some Goobers or JuJuBee's from the snack bar on the way out.
Hey Booze, are they offering any reward for turning in these hoodlums?
If so, I'm pretty sure I've seen the guy in this picture that's about to loot that kebab shop:

And I'm not positive, but I think the other guy in the hoodie goes by the street name "Scruffy Mark".

Do you honestly believe he saw any of it? I still think he was mistakenly watching Smurfs 3D and just thought it was the ape movie. Just sayin'.

It was Apes. And I still argue that they were still in cages when I walked in, so I didn't miss nuthin'.

Yeah, if I was at the theater 15 years ago. But there was no Spike Lee joint or Madea movie playin', so I'm fairly certain I saw half of the right film.
A Monkey Remains on the Loose After 56 Animals Are Released From Ohio Preserve
Published October 19, 2011 FoxNews.com
Authorities in Ohio said they successfully killed 49 of the 56 animals that were released from a wild-animal preserve, ranging from brown bears to Bengal tigers, before any reported injuries in the area.
The body of a gray wolf was reportedly recovered Wednesday afternoon, leaving only a monkey, likely infected with Herpes-B, the only missing animal still on the loose.
It's happening . . .
BTW, I finally got around to watching the film last week. The first half, I thought, was good, but the second half was just like watching a Detroit Pistons NBA Championship celebration\riot.

I saw somewhere that the mayor was annoyed that the sheriff decided on a shoot all the critters policy without asking the politicians. I just hope they only were shooting the animals that are known to attack people, and not just slaughtering various petting zoo animals, giant tortoises, koalas, and sloths along with the lions.

If the apes ever do take over it's going to be really fucked up. As far as I know none of them have a drivers license. We'll have to drive them everywhere!
