Yes- this movie was spawned (just like Machete) from the fake movie trailers previewed in the Grindhouse movies. But unlike Grindhouse and unlike Machete, this movie was horrible. Rutger Hauer wasn't all that bad, but everything else about the movie was.
The sad thing about this movie is that it had so much potential. But it was made by a bunch of Canadiants. And we all know what happens when Canadiants get involved in show-biz... It's either great or it's a pile of shit. There's no shades of gray with those Maple tree jizz drinking fuckers.
Anyway... I know that Belasco has either seen this and loves it, or wants to see it now that he knows it's an actual movie. Am I right or am I right? j/k lolz
btw, I never thought I'd EVER do this, but Hobo With a Shotgun has taken the title of "The Sav's worst movie ever to be made" away from Troll 2.
So here's where the rankings stand...
1. Hobo with a Shotgun
2. Troll 2
3. Nothing but Trouble
4. Transmorphers
5. I am Omega
6. Skyline
7. Lady in the Water
8. V for Vendetta
9. Popeye
10. RV

I've known about it for a while. My horror fan friends loved it and the best horror magazine in the country (Rue Morgue) gave it a cover feature.
You are the only person I've heard put it in the Troll 2 category. Now I can't wait to see it!

Sav, did you take the family to see this?
B., I saw it and enjoyed it. It was made to look like a early eighties flick and had a lot of unrelenting violence, random violence, and clever violence. Someone said the story operates like a western flick about a man driven to avenge a wrong then multiple wrongs. There is a notable cameo from Rob from "Trailer Park Boys", and the dweeb engineer character from Lexx here has a major role. I don't know who the female character is--but thanks for reminding me to look her up--but she was hot. As a violent pop-corn flick I'd give it an 'A'.

Well Diddy, JD liked the movie, so I think that tells you eeeeeeverything you need to know about it. And if you like it. That wouldn't surprise me one bit. I saw Aftermath... You are such a DICK for bringing that movie to my attention. What the fuck is wrong with you?

IF the guy playing the mortician wasn't so over the top, that short would have disturbed me. I found it completely without value, call me a film snob or a rube.

It was a silent short by a Spanish filmmaker. I gave him a break.

So, I dug "Hobo with a Shotgun". Sorry, Sav. It was an exploitation film and did exactly what it was supposed to do - entertain at all costs.
Was it ridiculous? Yes.
Was it over-the-top? Yes.
Was it fun? Yes - good campy fun.
The school bus scene may have been one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a movie.
And when did Rutger become Anthony Hopkins?

I gotta admit... That school bus scene was pretty bitchin'.
No one making a "mainstream" movie would have the balls to do that.
Another sweet scene, was when she stabbed that guy nearly to death with her arm nub/bone. But then she ruined the coolness of that by using the same nub to lift up a 75lb manhole cover. Jesus!
Still, it's a horrible movie. And you can't give it a pass by saying that it is ok because it was meant to be a bad movie. That boat don't float, Diddy.

I'm not saying it was meant to be bad. It was meant to be exploitive and it succeeded. We don't dismiss comedy movies because they were trying to be funny.
I laughed, I was surprised, and I never looked at my watch. That's not a bad film to me.

If that movie had a monster in it... It would have been called Troll 3: With a shotgun.

It'd be great if it took place on Rodeo Drive.
