So I finally got around to seeing this. I'm big into WW2 stuff, and love shooting scoped rifles, so I expected to dig this story of a Russian sniper and Nazi sniper who were trying to kill each other during Stalingrad. Ed Harris plays the nazi, too, and he's a good actor for that kind of role.
Anyway, I thought a few aspects of the movie were well done, but so many inexcusable things about it were shit. For example, they show a map of Hitler's progression in 1942, and it shows Switzerland get taken over, when they were neutral so were spared invasion. There were several gun goofs, too. In the opening scene, a rifle is wrapped up in so much cloth, you could never see your sites to shoot. Later, I think I saw a bolt action Mauser firing semi-auto. In another scene you can see the breath coming from a corpse laying on the winter ground. I half expected it to turn into a zombie. Isn't there someone who watches a big budget movie before release and looks for basic shit that might be wrong?

I liked the bit where Ed Harris & Jude Law meet up in that diner before the Soviet counter-offensive.
