[Disclaimer: Apologies to anyone reading this who is Canadian. You're all wonderful people, what with the way you don't attack us and all.]
Next time you need to call someone in Canada, try this. It'll endear you to them forever.
You: "You're in [name of city], right?"
Canadian: "Right."
You: "I've forgotten--which state is that in?"
Canadian: "Well, uh, we don't have states here, we have provinces."
You: "State, province, whatever. They're pretty much the same thing, right? Hah hah!"
Canadian: "Well . . ."
You: "I mean, for all practical purposes, Canada is just part of the U.S. anyway, right? Hah hah!"
Trust me, they'll love you.

Remember what Ward Fontana said all those years ago.
"There are 26 million Canadians". "80% of Canadians wear black socks and stockings."
If you want me to tell you the truth, press 1. If you want me to lie, press 2.
Laughs! I remember that bit on one of the best of CDs!

When I visit Canada and am feeling impish with my other USA buddies around while purchasing something I deliberately state :
"How much is that in REAL MONEY?"
The canadian sales clerks grimace but usually actually reply with an approximate value in USA dollars instead of Canadian dollars.
=======
... sadly.... with the USA printing money day and night to pay interest payments and war expenses the US dollar will soon be worth less than Canadian.

"Over the past 6 weeks it is up $192.9 billion, a 16.7 percent Banana Republic hyperinflationary pace. "
In march 2006 for the first time in over 90 years the US gov will 'print' money secretely and not divulge in an "M-3" report how much debt it trades for dollars with the fed reserve (printing monopoly money).

You're right... it looks as though Stephen Harper will be our new Prime Minister. And believe me when I say that's a GOOD thing! :D

Me: "What's Canada?"
Canadian: "Its a country."
Me: "I never heard of it. Is it new?"
Canadian: "NO IT'S NOT NEW!!"
Me: "Look, I'm not calling you a liar, but I'm sure if there was some new country called 'Canada', they would have said something about it on the t.v."

Yank: What's with this weird-looking money?
Canadian: What do you mean? That's how our money looks.
Yank: Each denomination is a different color. Is it, like, color-coded for people who can't read?
Canadian: I'll have you know that we have a very high literacy rate.
Yank: Oh. Who's the broad on the money?
Canadian: That's Queen Elizabeth II.
Yank: Canada has a queen?
Canadian: She's the queen of ENGLAND.
Yank: Canada is part of England?
Canadian: Canada is a British COMMONWEALTH.
Yank: Oh, so it IS part of England. Didn't you have a Boston Tea Party?

i am glad that you are glad swirlmaster. but please help me. i seem to remember someone saying that Harper's views on foreign affairs are concurrent w/ George W's. however, every politician, or whoever, that supports Bush always seems to strategically voice one opinion that is in almost extreme opposition (possible just to seem as if they are not THAT far right wing conservative). can you comment as to Harper's "problem" w/ George (and America for that matter)?
