Anybody here use a Slingbox (http://www.slingbox.com/)? I never thought I had a need for for one but holy shit this is a cool device. It gives you total access to all of the programming on your cable / satellite box including recorded shows /DVR from anywhere in the world. I've been using it to stream TV to my computer at work, to my laptop around the house and workshop. It's also great to be able to program your DVR when you're not home. It's super simple to set up (less than 10 minutes.) and works brilliantly . Today, I let a friend watch a football game that he couldn't get in his city. It supports HD too.

Shit, DJ. You've cost me a small fortune the last four years. I'm in serious need of media server action (robust one, too), and now I gotta go get THIS SHIT?! What's my action on that, DJ?

The Pro HD is $300 at my local Best Buy (so, that's probably the price everywhere). If I were slinging a few more fish a day, I'd have tried it already.

Actually, fag, I've already emailed DJB about this because I've been considering one. Currently we can't stream netflix to the iphone, but I've been thinking about getting the slingbox to hook up the roku and streaming that to the iphone (rotary 1.3 of course) as well as other DVR content. Iphone even has an app for roku to control it over the internuts.
Leave it to Beaver while waiting for my connecting flight and access to my DVR while staying at the Hotel Carter? Might be in the cards.
This place has cost me a bundle, but I still ain't buying an $80 pie from NYC.

I recommend grabbing the Solo and trying it for a week or two and then trading up when you realize how freaking cool it is. No re-stocking fee at Best Buy. If you are only watching on a laptop or small monitor the Solo for $180.00 is excellent.

It'd be great to see a spreadsheet of all the stuff you've purchased and who at SFJ recommended it. I think Belasco is in the lead for talking you into spending over $8,000 on Mac hardware.... but seriously Spender, I saved you a few clams when I recommended the Line 6 guitar gizmo.
Have you seen this thing (http://tinyurl.com/yde8cyh) yet?

The slingbade application for the iphone is now available on 3G (you watch content without wireless access). I've been jonsing for this for awhile, but this is the deal maker.

It's especially tempting with March Madness firing up soon. Watching tiny spooks play ni99erball on my phone is my idea of entertainment!

That's how I found out...searching the internuts on how I can watch Illinois play this afternoon in the Big Ten Tourney. They are playing only about 5 blocks from my office, but I am stuck here.
Edit:
Sprung for the slingbox after work today and the icob app. After 300, they should heap you the app, but it will be worth it with the streaming over 3G. Pretty fuken sweet. I will now catch all MLB this year at work and on the road.
