I do REALLY want the new Mercury Rev album. I've found no less than six links for it and haven't found a live one. I'm 'bout to just buy it on Itunes. Billiam, name some bands and I'll dig for 'em. Same goes for all y'all. There's all kindsa cool shit, yet no Hank Sr. or Lindsay Lohan. No goddamn rhyme or reason. In all honesty, I've got just about everything I've ever wanted (looking since '97, plus burning my entire CD stash before I solt it on ebay years ago). The hard shit is the entire Godley & Creme catalog, but I've even got most of that. DJ found my Holy Grail with Group 87's album, so this is tough. Shit, anything from King Swamp would be great. The only problem is that these guys are ripping these things (mostly) at 128, which can't pump bass frequencies.

You really stoked me with the 160k rips of Zappa's main body of work, so I was able to upgrade some old 128's, which is huge. I can't really ask fer much, negro. :tip: (BUT, if you stumble on another SCHWEET audiobook stash, I'd be on that like Beans on a pair of tight stonewashed jeans!) :up:

Easynews is hit & miss when it comes to tracking down specific old albums. But so is wherever you're getting those links from. Where EZN is great, though, is for new releases by even vaguely well known bands. And albums by big names like Mercury Rev usually turn up before the release date. Snowflake Midnight is on there at the moment.

Of course, if you're already signed up, I'm just preaching to the choir.

I've been downloading a few albums here and there on EZN, but on my sandisk mp3 player, shit comes up a little bit different. How can I change artists, albums, etc from "unknown" to the category that they really fall under? If I only listened to music in random play, I wouldn't give a shit but this has been bugging me for a while.

Download a program called Tag & Rename (DON'T download the new beta--use the older one). It's a godsend. I'm using it now for a project that's gonna take me at LEAST six months (getting ALL my albums and tracks in order for my schweet 120GB Zune, including super-clean 1000x1000-pixel cover art for each. That's the program to do it in.

Confusing at first, but READ THE HELP FILES. The %variables are daunting at first, but then you learn 'em and they're your savior.

Dude, I spent a WHOLE SATURDAY modifying my ID3 tags and downloading/editing all the album art for my Van Morrison collection--every fucking album, right?

iTunes imports it all off my native root music drive, overwrites all my album art, replaces only 1/5 of it (and with Greatest Hits covers), and rewrote all my ID3 info!! If you call them and ask them why they do this, they just say, "Oh, we have our OWN database and that's all iTunes uses... now go fuck your mother." Oh, alright... schweet. Jerkoffs. I love all my Mac shit, but iTunes can rot in hell.
