So... as everyone here at SFJ knows, The Sav has a birthday coming up. And as such, it is the duty of Mrs. The Sav to purchase a gift for him. This year, Mrs. The Sav decided to get The Sav his gift a little early....

And it was a Blackberry Curve Titanium 8330 Smart Phone! Holey fucin shit!!!

I was originally going to go for the iphone but this has all the features the iphone has and more (I think). Plus, one of my main issues with the iphone was that it didn't have a REAL qwerty keyboard. I'm not even sure what it is... if it's just standard alphebet or qwerty, but what I do know, is that it's touch screen and I don't dig that.

The screen on this phone is gynormous and it comes with all the cool media applications like photo, video cam, mp3's, email, internet, etc. It also has a full GPS deal like a Garmin. It has a ton of other bells and whistles too, including the traditional PDA stuff. Although I probably won't use half of them.

Anyway, I'm really digging this phone. I can't wait to drive somewhere and use the GPS.

Congrats, Sav! I like to see people get excited about their birthday present. Seems like most people just get gift cards now-a-days and that's not very special or memorable. Enjoy!

Seriously, I don't get it. Is it the look of the device that makes you joke about it, or is it something else?

It literally has all of the same bells and whistles- technilogically speaking, so it's not outdated or anything. I really wanted the ipod, but like I said, the touch keypad thing was a deal breaker and the screen on that phone isn't as big as the Blackberry's. And I wanted a GPS device with a large screen. I don't even know if the iphone is GPS enabled. It probably is though.

Sav, no matter what your missus gets you for your birthday, she's still duty bound to give you a shiner. Don't let her forget.

SAV!! I was *TOTALLY* goofin'!! I was slappy as hell, and I ain't even SEEN one. Believe me, until the iPhone makes their keyboard HORIZONTAL, you'd GO NUTS trying to type on that thing. You should know me better 'an 'at, daddy-o! :tip:

I wasn't at all insulted by your comment. I just thought that maybe you knew something about the phone that I didn't. As in, I just got Sav'ed again by buying some phone that's 5 years behind in technology. lmao

When it comes to researching tech related devices, I research the shit out of things and then I finally hit a wall and go from being an informative consumer to mindless knuckle dragger who just wants to have a new toy. I've been burned in the past regarding such purchases. Escpecially in the cell phone area. I even feel like my ipod nano was a bit of a waste of cash because of all these multi function devices out there, like this new Smartphone.

Anyway... I didn't take you comment as a jab, even in the slightest way. I was genuinely confused and to be honest... scared that I made another fucked up purchase. lmao

lmao... bit it is pretty funny to think that Sav regularly gets a shiner after his wife's aunt visits them.

I could Google "shitty old cell phone" all day and not come up with one that looks as bad and old as mine. I painted, did carpentry, dropped it off ladders, kicked it, stepped on it, and dropped it into more than one pond/aquarium. Fucker still works after a new battery. Verizon offers me a freebie, but I know how to use this one. I loved my old Siemens slider phone -no camera, not a god damn bell or whistle -but it was a tank! It worked and I could call out, text, etc. without looking, had a good antenna, all that shit. It finally died by dropping 50+ feet and I had to learn this one. I have no interest in upgrading until I have to.

Kuck yeah!! I just made this post from my Blackberry phone! All of this new technology just blows my kucking mind. We live in a great age*, my friends. A great age indeed.

It was only a mere 13 years ago when I needed a goddamn shopping cart to haul around my very first cell phone.... now I've got one that is the size of a small wallet and can do the same job of a computer, phone, music player, video camera, television, and virtual tour guide, address book and planner (and more)... all in one motherkucking device!

Navigating around and posting on SFJ isn't nearly as easy when I'm on my regular computer, but it's still cool to know that I can access the site without hauling my laptop around everywhere.

*technologically speaking that is. But society as a whole is still pretty fucked. lol

I just got a new Samsung Omnia and i was looking for a place to post and I came across this gem. (pun intended)

I was going to post in the iPhone thread but I knew I would be trampling on sacred ground.

Anyhoo, the Omnia is a Windows mobile phone with the Samsung touchwhiz interface. It comes with 8GB internal storage and a MicroSD slot that will take up to a 16GB card.

I would love to have an iPhone, the apps for that bitch look awesome, but alas, I hate AT&T and their shitty coverage in my area and their "were upgrading the towers next moth" B.S. I heard for 5 years. My employer is paying for my phone service and they use Verizon so now I have corporate e-mail with Exchange and I set up my personal e-mail too.

Does it have big Ctrl-Alt-Del buttons, Pettigrew? You'll bee needin' 'em ... a LOT. lol

I was concerned about AT&T coverage, too, till I saw the coverage map after they schcooped up Cingular's signals, and I think I just saw one house that didn't get coverage ... and it was The Sav's. lmao

I kid. Sort of.

Hope yer diggin' it, brutha!
