I know there's only one game on all our minds at the moment, but I'm pretty excited about this one too...

Any of you who played Battlefield 2 on the PC will know that it was the dog's bollocks when it came to online, squad based gaming. If you had a few mates who played it, or you managed to hitch your wagon to a team that knew what they were doing, it was second to none.

Like I told Spooner when I almost got him to invest in a top notch gaming PC just to play it with me & Boss, imagine this...

Coach flying a chopper like the one what picked up Charlie Sheen at the end of Platoon, Bill & Sav on each side manning those gigantic Gatling guns that can cut a man in two, Chip doing running repairs as we get shot at & me & Melon sitting on our helmets trying not to get our balls blown off.

Meanwhile, Fu & 'Lasco are in a 2 man chopper with tons more fire power, escorting us across a huge map into a hot zone where we'll jump out & try to take the flag. Or blow up the enemy's satellite trailer & artillery guns so our teammates can.

BF2 on the Xbox was rubbish, by all accounts. But the PC version was almost perfect. If they haven't sodded about with the basics too much, then all the additions (destructible landscape, better weapons, decent single player campaign, Xbox Live) should make this even better. I've got high hopes for this one. It's out late June. Fingers crossed.

I need some non-Booze feedback on this game before buyin'. I'm all amped for the new GH this weekend, but buyin' two games ain't out of the realm of my addiction. Make with the reviews, fags.

I dunno what the non-Booze camp think of it, but here's my review -

They've fucked it.

For one main reason; they've decided to do away with the ability to lay prone. WTF?

They've got their reasons. They say that, because of the amount of cover in the game, it becomes impossible to see snipers & gives them an unfair advantage, completely unbalancing the game in their favour.

But the maps I played were huge, with vast wide open terrain between flags. That meant that everybody wanted to grab the tanks & it just became a big tank battle. If you were on foot & you got spotted by someone in an armoured death machine, you were fucked.

In BF2, you could go prone on a rooftop or behind some cover, & play a little cat & mouse with a vehicle, popping up to have a go at it with your rocket launcher & laying down in the hope that the driver wouldn't see you. Now, with no prone & a destructable landscape, you're FUCKED if you're in no mans land without a vehicle.

BF2 wasn't PERFECT, & it wasn't exactly a simulation in the way America's Army was. But it remains the most well balanced game of it's type I've played so far, & was less arcade like than COD4. Bad Company makes COD seem ultra realistic by comparison, & it's been a real big letdown.

Maybe I'll go back to the demo after I finish GTA, but even controlling Niko seems more realistic to me now, with that sweet cover system. Hopefully we'll see that in a future COD or BF release, along with a prone option.

Booze, the only reason I said "non-Booze review" was because I know you're a hardcore fan. I just wanted an average Joe to review it. No offense intended AT ALL, daddy-o.
