When you do shit like that, you have to run like hell to get out of the "circle of justice." I caught a bunch of Fez on the radio, which was cool; but can't figure out how to start a fire. And going from 1st person to third is an adjustment, and my fucin' manual is missing Go dam pages. I'm sure I'll be way into it after burning some calories on this game, just isn't the excitement factor from start-up I expected.

Did about 5 hours of single player missions and an hour of multiplayer.

The thing thats impressed me most so far is just how real the city feels. All pedestrians look different and say different shit, they never seem to fall over the same way twice. It just makes it all the more intense when you drive through a hot stand or mug a woman.

The cars are more realistic and in turn more challenging to drive. Theres a lot more weight to them but they all handle differently. I got into an Infernus in multiplayer and it fucking boots along. The voice acting and dialogue is way above video game standards. The plot seems to be simmering nicely too. I like this Niko fella.

The multiplayer is a fucking blast. Cops and Crooks is great as are the street races. Havent tried any other modes as of yet. In the multiplayer modes the whole map is available and cops and pedestrians are on too. I got into a helicopter with a mate last night and as Oxygène Part IV by Jean Michel Jarre played on the radio he hovered over time square and i sprayed bullets over terrified innocents! lmao Vintage GTA.

:tip: Yeah, I found the in-game one. Christ, there's 75 different actions on 12 buttons! I tried to bowl on a date last night and never DID figure out what I hit to throw the ball.
Yeah, I did play GTA on a buddy's console 2-3 years ago, but may have jumped in mid-game. It seemed much more fast paced. Then again, I've been playing COD4 multi-player for months on end and don't even have a gun yet in this game. I tried to mug the biggest nigger I had ever seen in the game and he killed me dead, do you guys just mug random people? I killed one guy who got pissed because I walked into him, but didn't get any money or anything off of him, so figured it was best to leave folks alone. Plus, there are a ton of cops. I did try to car jack another big nig, but he was kicking my ass, so I got him to chase me away from his car then sprinted back to it and took off, running him over with his own Thunderbird! That's been the highlight of my game so far.

Last night, my chick went into the Triangle Club (strip club) in the north Burrough and got a lap dance. She wandered into the Employees Only area and went into the Security Room. There, propped up on the wall was a loaded shotgun. Fun time! When she left the Employee area and went back into the club, the screaming started. She walked out pretty easily. After a while the cops were after her and she blew one of the cops faces off with the shotgun - it ended for her rather quickly after that.

You're given a gun during your second mission with the jamacian guy. You can this pick up more ammo from the people he wants you to kill.

Another way to get guns and ammo is to go to dodgy areas and run over drug dealers. They'll always drop money and sometimes guns.

Ammunation sells weapons too.

I'm at a place where I fight two Russians in a basketball court, then try to chase the one who runs off, but I have no fucing idea which direction he went.

So whats everyone else think? I stand by my original review. Pretty much just a better looking version of the same GTA game. I like the new physics, and love the destructable environments during gunfights, but i just don't think it deserved all the hype that surrounded it. I hardly see anything "new" that really takes the game to anew level.

I'm really liking it so far. My only other experience with the game was Vice City. The targeting and cover system is great. I like the story so far. The characters are fun and the tv/radio/internet satire is top-notch.

I really like it, I just haven't had much game time for the last few months. I'm still not sure how to do certain things (like cover, dodge an attack, etc.) so I'm not as into it as I'd be if I were kicking ass. I take it all back, I'm about to put this fucker on Ebay. I am trying to chase Dardin by car, I've tried it 50 times. The car angle gets all fucked up mid-chase; you go from 3rd person to looking out of a cracked windshield. Half the time I get stuck in slo-mo and it's just pissing me off to no end. And to get back to that scene, you have to go through town, beat up the loansharks, etc. all over again, and that's just boring. Fuck this game.

I'm enjoying this game alot. I have some minor issues with the controls, especially when aiming, but it's not a game breaker. It is very slow to start though, the first 2 hours is like a tutorial after that the fun really kicks in. The multiplayer is not nearly as polished as COD4, but it's still fun nonetheless.

I wasn't a console jockey when the last two GTAs came out, so I can't compare this to those ones. But I fucking LOVE this game. I haven't stuck another game in the tray since I got it, & I've put in some serious hours on it now.

I share the reservations about the controls (I've NEVER been able to get on with 3rd person games), & restarting failed missions clear across town again is a nag. But you can always jump in a cab or Roman's car service & warp straight to the action. And so far the missions haven't been so difficult that I've needed to replay them more than once.

None of that matters much when you get stuck into playing it, anyway. It's proper addictive. There's no way it could have lived up to the hype, but it comes pretty close & has WAY more depth than you've got any right to expect from a 40 quid video game.

Like Melon said, it starts off nice & gentle, with easy missions & cops that are dumb & easy to outrun (unless you shoot one of 'em) & builds up nicely. I've just managed to get onto Algonquin at last & buy myself some fancy new duds.

Chip, have you got yer hands on a baseball bat yet? Once you have, you'll never lose a fight again. I've no idea what's happening to you during that car chase. You sure you ain't hitting the back button accidentally & cycling through the camera angles? Have you had a rumble with Dardan on the rooftop, or does he always get away?

Hit LB when there's a cab near you to whistle & it'll stop if there are no passengers in it. Or you can find one stopped in traffic that HAS got punters in it & press Y when you're standing at the back door to sling them out. Be careful not to chuck the driver out instead, though. Then it'll just be a regular motor.

Lee, you know after a failed mission you can check your text messages and restart the mission without having to drive back to the original mission marker? I think that's a huge plus from the last games.

I had a great chase yesterday. Fuckin 5-0s on my ass and i am on a highway, somehow i got completely cornered and my car was stuck in the middle of 3 or 4 cop cars. The AI really impressed me in the way they seemed to corner me so effectively, and quickly. Well i only had one way out. Jump off the highway over pass to the street below. I ran for the edge and hopped over. As i was falling i was sure i would die, but NO! Nico layed ther for a second and struggled to his feet with a sliver of life left. I carjacked some buster and was home free. Fuck you pigs!!

I also like how you can shoot people who are dead and they still move from the bullets impact. I hate when someone dies in a game and there body just lays there as if it is no longer a part of the environment.

Another cool thing i saw ....... I was flying around in an SUV (probably my favorite ride so fa) well i clip some douche in the front fender and his car goes spinning and rolling ulitamatly ending up on its passanger side door. I was like "Sweet" then the fucking driver craawls out of the window and falls to the street just as another car hits the car he was in causing it to roll over on him! I guess thats why they say stay in the vehicle. I also saw a dude hit the wall near a tool booth and shoot out the windshield. Great stuff there.

Russ, there's a 'cinematic' camera mode that is fairly useless, & from within that you can change to all manner of crazy angles that are nice to look at but impossible to drive with.

Sounds to me like you're stuck in that mode. There isn't an 'above' camera angle as such in normal mode, just a series of behind, slightly raised ones, & looking straight through the windshield.

I'm having a lot of fun with GTA. Really enjoying the radio and the driving. The combat could be a lot better though - it can be very awkward to control and manouver especially in tight spaces.

I'm starting to find that the missions are getting tough over in Algonquin. Anyone done the Strip Club mission for Dwayne? I've died 4 or 5 times trying that and lost around 15 grand on hospital fees in the process.

Oddly the GTA games are entirely coded in Edinburgh, Scotland but stuff like voice recording and design is done in NYC.

The japs are completely oblivious to the GTA games along with all first person shooters. Most japanese gamers who tried Halo 3 complained of motion sickness.

As far as I know, you can't enter text. All the cheats should just just be numbers. But I think using the health cheat means that you can't complete all the missions.

You shouldn't need the cheats anyway, Fu. You can tear shit up & get away from the coppers pretty easy, & all the missions are do-able, at least so far, & I'm about 60% through it.

That bank robbery was a good mission. I just got done with the Tunnel of Death mission. Took me a couple times. The first time i got out of the tunnel and was in a chase that must have lasted 10 minutes. I finally got away from those sons of bitches but somewhere along the line i lost my buddy or something.
