I was thinking today of all the famous people I've met in my life. There were quite a lot of them, and the memories surprised me a little bit. Have any of you met anyone famous? Here are the ones I remember: Ted Nugent, Rob Halford, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Eric Carr (R.I.P.), Eric Singer, NancyWilson, Sabastian Bach, Fran Drescher, Vixen, Bob Ezrin, David Gilmour, Pat Hingle (commissioner Gordon in Batman).

Once at a movie premiere in Boston I used a urinal next to David Carradine. Not the best circumstances under which to introduce oneself.

Yes, I have. Don Henley, Andy Dick, Jerry Orsbach, Carter Oosterhouse, Joe Farrell, Chubby Checker (aka Ernest Evans. He held insurance with the company I was working for, so I saw him quite often.), Henry Winkler (who is a penpal of my twins due to their dyslexia).

Nicest person on the list? Mr. Winkler, hands down. Chubby Checker is a close second.

The most disaffected? Henley.

The biggest jerk? Andy Dick.

The most gorgeous? Carter Oosterhouse. Joe Farrell is a damned fine runner-up.

Jerry Orsbach ran into the side of a cab I was riding in in NYC. Not with a car. Bodily.

The oddest person I've met was Nicholas Smith, who played in the British comedy "Are You Being Served". Nice guy, though.

Damn you met Vixen? Were they as hot in person as they were in that video they had? That band had me abusing my shorts for months when I was a kid.

Arnold Swarzenegger - on the set of "Commando". He took my wife-to-be into his trailer, but
no gropeage. Had some laughs, nice guy, had to keep him away from the flight line. He asked
about how expensive they were, I told him he probably couldn't afford it. He wasn't quite as
huge as he is now, status-wise, not muscle size.

Neil Finn (Crowded House/Split Enz) - Sang onstage with him at a concert.

Bob Crane - at Universal Studios right before he died.

Probably others that dont immediately come to mind, just not overly impressed by most of 'em. The
others I've seen that I had some respect for I didn't want to bother, I know I'd hate that.

When I lived in Miami, we used to see NBA players in the Grove all of the time, saw Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, David Robinson. A friend of mine had a kid that went to school with O.J. Simpson's kids, so met him. He's shorter than I thought he would be and has a big ol' head like a bucket. Made me nervous. I saw Will Smith in an Apple Store. My wife met the "Round Mound of Opera Sound", Luciano Pavarotti. And Sylvester Stallone, the cute little guy.

That reminds me of the days when the Portland Trailblazers were a great team, circa 1990-1993 (ofcourse they never got a champioship those years). Anyway... my story... I was delivering pizza's one night and I had to deliver a huge order to this luxury house boat. When I got there there was like 80 people in this joint. So I place my 5000 pizzas (seemed like it) in the kitchen. The guy that owned the house was this little mid-eastern guy and he had all these pictures with NBA guys on the wall. Okay, whatever right? Well he gives me the cash and like a $1 tip for a 250 and some-odd dallar order! What a cheapskate!! Then as I was leaving, I hear this voice from the back (I can't see him). (Deep black dude voice) "hey man, you tip that kid?" The cheapskate replies with a "yeah I got it" Then (deep black man voice) he says "Nah, you probably stiffed him you cheap ass, come here pizza dude." So I go over... and it's Kevin Duckworth, Clyde Drexler, Buck Williams, Terry Porter, and someothere dude's which names I foget at the moment. Clyde's laughing his ass off and little midget cheapskate guy looks pissed. Duckworth hands me a $10, Clyde and the others pitch in for a total of about $35 and then other people at the party started reaching in to pitch me some doe. I took pictures with them and they hooked me up with some good seats for a game vs. the Lakers (I had to call some joint to secure/ confirm that sweet deal) All and All. I walked up out of that joint with about $75, and that includes the buck from midget boy. Booooyaaah!

It's 1986 and I'm working at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. If you don't know, Busch Gardens is a theme park run by Anheiser Busch. Think Disney Land with lederhosen. Anyhoo, I'm working at the skyride when these two dudes and their chicks show up in line. The guys are sporting the androgynous hair band look which was so popular at that time. All of them are wearing either pleather or spandex pants. The girls look like complete whores and the guys have on better makeup. So the guys get up to the front of the line and I'm holding open the door to the skyride so they can step in.

Me: Hey, are you guys in a band or something?

Metal Dudes: Yeah, totally man. You ever heard of Queensryche?

Me (Lying): Oh, yeah man. That is totally awesome. Can I have your autograph?

Metal Dude No. 1: *Snorts* Yeah, man. Here ya go.

(Metal Dude scribbles on paper and hands it back to me)

Me: Alright, you guys keep on rockin'! (I give em the p-funk sign)

(The skyride the dudes are in takes off and slowly ascends into the night as I call out to them from below)

Me: Hey Queensryche!

(The dudes look down)

Me: Piss off! (I tear the autograph in half)

The next day I was fired from Busch Gardens. Not for that. For showing up drunk to work.

True story.

I met the guys in Machine Head and Sevendust when an acquaintance (Slayer's drum tech) of a friend of mine got us backstage at a couple of different shows. All were very cool, regular guys.

I also met a couple of the guys in Mudvayne, but that was before they'd made it. They're from my home town. Every now and then, the guitar player used to jam with the band I used to be in.

Met Elijah Wood on a flight from Vegas to LA right before he started work on LOTR....he had his nose buried in The Two Towers most of that flight :)

I'm not one of those people who freaks out when they see a celebrity. I usually pity them (the ones I like) since you see how hard it is for them to do simple things like a normal person. I'm around politics so I've met a number of political figures mostly Florida centered. Former President George H.W. Bush is at the top of the list (very tall guy). After that I'd say Governor Jeb Bush, Rep. Katherine Harris, FL Attorney General Charlie Crist (he's running for governor) and boxing promoter Don King (BIG Bush supporter) are the names you'd recognize. Though this weekend I met Alan Keyes and I'm sure most of you have heard or seen something about him. Most everyone else is only known in Florida and would be a long list.

I also seem to have some kind of NASCAR karma that has me running into those guys quite often. Just this weekend I was hanging out with Kyle Busch after running into him and a friend in a hotel hallway in Orlando. I was there for a Young Republican event. They were there at one of the surf conventions for Kyle's sunglasses sponsor. I happened to be outside a room with a big party going on so they wanted to know if they could hang and I said sure why not! I had the decency to ask him if he wanted to go incognito but he was really cool said it was ok to introduce him as is. They hung around for about an hour and a half and seemed to have a good time. I also met Dale Earnhardt Jr. at an Arby's in Florida City a few hours after the Homestead race 2 years ago. He was buying food for all his crew guys and was first class with all the fans after they realized it was him.

I've met a couple of Miami Dolphins at my local bar in Ft. Lauderdale. They like this restaurant thats next door to it. So I've met Jason Taylor and Junior Seau. I actually asked Seau to move out of the way of the jukebox before I recognized him! Good thing I was polite! I met a couple of football greats at the Super Bowl once. I was in high school and volunteered for the pre-game show ground crew. (Did you know they they have 50 cent soda machines in the tunnel areas? Man, they rip you off when you buy a ticket!) It was when the 49ers played the Chargers. Bob Griese was first class. I also met Lynn Swann and Jim Kelly (who was in a golf cart because of a leg injury). I met Lawrence Taylor at a celebrity golf tourney. He was having a good time and was nice to everyone.

The biggest prick I've ever met is Scottie Pippen. They call him "No-tippin' Pippen". He's a total dick to everyone and milks everything he can get out of his celebrity status. Maybe I'll tell that story another time. With that exception most celebrities just want to be treated normally and appreciate you and even remember you when you're low-key and just introduce yourself and back-off. Then they are the ones that come up and talk to you since you treated them so normal. I'm not making excuses for the bad behavior and what-not you see from some people, but fame is definitely something that is not easy to live with at times. So the next time you see someone famous don't freak out and be that jackball that acts like a 5 year-old seeing Santa Claus. You embarrass yourself and you could be feeding the ego of a prick like Scottie Pippen. Or, worse, you could be ruining the time of someone who's trying to live a normal life like the rest of us. Think of how you would feel taking your wife out for an anniversary or your kids to a park and being harrassed.

I'm sure there are a few more that I can't remember.

Ok check this out. I met and chatted up Cameron Diaz for 10-15 minutes without knowing it was her. It was at the VMA's in L.A. the year Ben Stiller hosted. Something About Mary had just come out, so I guess she was there b/c he was. I had not seen the movie yet, and really didn't know who she was. Anyway, I'm standing in one of the many chow lines at the lavish afterparty, and this chick starts talking to me about what a freak Marilyn Manson was during his performance (midgets and whatnot). SHE initiated the conversation, and sort of followed me to a table after we got our food and kept talking/joking around. She was really friendly, and I think maybe she was finding me sessy and/or digging my sessuality. Of course, being the compete Jackass 'Gloid that I am, a) I didn't recognize her, and b) somehow I let the conversation end to go back to my friends. Promptly, one of my friends says, hey, what up with you and Cameron Diaz? And I said....huh? And we look over, and she's gone. [CUT TO: me walking alone into the forest with a loaded 9mm. A lone shot is heard. Carrruthers.]

Just think of where you COULD be right now!

Booooyyaaaahhhh!!!! (<---------- just thinking about where I'd be with Cameron Diaz)

Tonya Harding was in line right behind me in a supermarket right up the street (buying a case of greenies in addition to her regular groceries) about 1999 or so.. I think that was when she was still just a hick ice skater, and not yet a boxer.

When i was a kid in socal (mid 80's), we met John Candy at a LA Dodgers game... My dad accosted him for an autograph as he was leaving the pisser...

I have met several professional poker players and other semi-famous peeps in Vegas recently... I think if you watch enough travel channel and go to vegas enough, it just happens..

Tommy lasorda sat in the seat in front of me at a minow league baseball game. Really nice man. In between every half inning he constantly signed autographs for people who had started lining up when they saw him there. While the game was being played he was watching it. I never heard him say one thing to the guy next with him in a bad way about all the people coming over. Last year my son went to a football camp where Terrell Owens, Takeo Spikes, and a few lesser NFL types were teaching the kids. They were all pretty great, even TO suprisingly.

No, I haven't met Ann Coulter yet. I have a friend who did when he invited her to speak at his College Republicans meeting once. This was before she was a household name and more of just a conservative Republican celebrity. He said she was really cool and they hung out before and after. The next time he saw her he just happened to be on a campus where she was speaking and he popped in and sat down. (He works for a think-tank so he's at colleges quite often.) She recognized him and stopped mid-speech to say 'hi' to him and they talked afterwards. I always kid him that she must of been digging him and should've hit on her!

I'll tell the Scottie 'No Tippin' Pippen incident. They call him 'No Tippin' because, well, he tips like a French-Canadian. Which means he doesn't tip at all! He was at that popular restaurant I mentioned that was next to my local bar. He popped into the bar with this chick he was with and my friend who was a huge Chicago sports fan was excited. Pippen went with his girl to get pizza at this place in the little strip mall where everything is (awesome pizza, by the way)and my friend went over there with a pen and some paper in his hand to ask for an autograph.

Friend: "Hi, Mr. Pippen can I ask you a favor?"
Pippen: "Sure, I guess."
Friend: "Can you sign this for me and my friend?"
Pippen: "Now you're asking me for 2 favors."

Needless to say my friend was appalled and walked away without getting the autograph. He was a smart-ass the whole time and said that little line with a fair helping of disdain and condescension. Everyone who I've ever talked to that has run into him says he's a self-absorbed asshole. So this wasn't one those times when you just caught a guy in a bad mood.

My best friend used to be a valet in SoCal and he worked this job at some fancy convention center (circa 1999) where kids from this private school were holding a charity funtion. These kids were movie stars kids... my friend met Jamie Lee Curtis, Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, and a bunch of other movie stars that were going to see their kids do this play, or to go and support the charity. Well Gov. Arnold was there too, but he wasn't the Gov. then, he was still a movie guy.

Anyway, my friend said he (Arnold) was trying to park his Hummer somewhere in a place nobody under any circumstances could park. My buddy tried to explain the situation to Arnold, and Arnold didn't like it and got mad and started to yell at my buddy. Then Arnold drove off and almost ran over my buddy. When my buddy told me the story, he said he never once got mad or offened because he was laughing so hard about being yelled at by Arnold. He said all he could think about was the "girlie man" skits from SNL.

I used to manage a couple of large liquor stores in Tulsa, and I have sold French wine to Tommy Chong and his lovely wife, "bumpy-face" (lime twisted gin) to Sinbad and his posse, chianti to that guy in "goodfellas", "uncle pauly, paul sorvino, I kicked one of the Hanson boy's out of my store for being under-age, Wild Turkey to Tommy "the duke" Morrison,(he was stoned out of his gourd on smoke), sherry to G ary busey's momma, Bourbon to his brother, catered all the liquor to Motley Crue backstage two times. The biggest asshole was by far Sinbad, he acted like he didnt like "whitey" yet wanted special treatment and a discount. Tommy Chong was the coolest, he was here for two shows and was asking lots of questions about where to eat, He even gave me a "Chong Bong" that he was selling at his shows, he was really cool. Paul sorvino was nice too, he was here shooting a film . He was alone and had no posse, just driving around town he said trying to get a sense of the place. There are others but my attorney advises me to remain silent on those matters.

Preface: HUGE NEW YORK METS FAN

I moved from new york to florida in '98 and immediately enrolled at florida state university. my first semester at the dorm there was a weak hurricane blowing through town so we had a huge party (naturally). Soon enough we were playing coed semi-naked football in the rain. i tackled this chic and randomly made my sessuality be known. Anyway i ended up having sess with her (she was about a 5, who cares).

Forward two years. i am still in Tallahassee, working at a place called California Chicken Grill when i recognized that girl in the lobby. Being a gentleman, i approached her to say hello and she was obviously standing next to an older couple i assumed were her parents. Then, like a ton of bricks, it hit me. The guy she was standing with was GARY CARTER. AND IT WAS HER FATHER. (FYI: Gary is a Hall of Fame catcher that led the METS to a world series championship in 1986). he let me try on the championship ring. how about them apples.

I've never "met" a famous person per se, but I did shake hands and greet Dave Barry at a book signing. I was hugely impressed. This was about February or March of 2001. He had flown who knows how many miles and shaken thousands of hands and he still had the energy to be very personable and friendly. I asked for a picture so I gave the camera to a lady nearby, and Dave practically seized me, almost an embrace, and I got the shot. What a nice man!

That reminds me of the days when the Portland Trailblazers were a great team, circa 1990-1993 (ofcourse they never got a champioship those years). Anyway... my story... I was delivering pizza's one night and I had to deliver a huge order to this luxury house boat...The guy that owned the house...gives me the cash and like a $1 tip for a 250 and some-odd dallar order!

Oh the celebrities you meet delivering pizza. I delivered pizza to a few celebrities in my day, with a similar outcome. One of which was Snoop Dogg (all the time). The last time I went up there, he called in to order half a dozen Meat Lover's (very meaty) pizzas with a bunch of hot wings and other assorted snacks. I was excited because I figured he was having a little party as this was enough food to feed more than 30 people, and we always got to see whoever was there (Warren G, another rapper frequented these along with Nate Dogg and other people from that whole scene). Well it was late (almost closing) and when I got there... he was alone. I had to wonder why he was so hungry this late at night. Whatever he'd been doing had caused him to get some major munchies. He opened the box as soon as I got there (before paying or anything) and inhaled a piece.

Oh yeah, and you guessed it, he didn't have any money! We went looking through his hummer (used in music videos of his) for money, couldn't find any. He tried to pay me with signed CDs, shirts and the like. Finally his wife showed up and thankfully she had some money. He once tipped another driver with a bag of something if you know what I mean.

We also delivered to Stone Temple Pilots.

And being in LA, you do see people. Last month, I was in a restaurant and Jack Black walked in with a lovely young lady and sat next to me in a bar type restaurant. Apparently they had been not having a good night because she was crying. I said hey to him, but it was very uncomfortable because of whatever they had going on.[/list]

we all meet 'famous' people...and we all know that it's not that huge a deal, but i'll add a few of the more memorable ones for fun and participation.

Senator Gary Hart

George McGovern

Robert Englund/Stacy Keach/Gene Simmons (played 'stoner #1' in a movie called Wish You Were Dead. I haven't seen it yet. was filmed in 1999 and i don't know if it ever even made it to VHS.

Dennis Quaid.2000. (played some lame extra in Frequency in the hippie-club)

Marylin Manson (interviewed him and was thrown out of the interview into a pile of garbage bags. was during mechanical animals release. it's a long story but it involved my copy of david bowie's diamond dogs LP

Kurt Cobain 1989,1991 - my interview footage appears in this movie: http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009F7G6W/qid%3D1138822507/403-2552056-6816436
It's only been released in France so far.

Dennis Kucinich. I doubt many people think much of him but I hope he'll be the American president one day.

Ambassador Joel Wilson. interview.

J. Mascis (opened for his band)

John Lydon. guest on his old online radio show in 2000. interviewed him in 2003

Carol Alt / Fabiana Udenio etc. - played a Ghost Villager for an entire season of Peter Benchley's Amazon.1999.

Jeneane Garofalo - cast as 'LSD Ray' in some movie about Abbie Hoffman which i haven't seen yet. also briefly interned for Air America as a researcher.

Micheal Douglas - cast as 'loudspeaker protestor' for another film that I don't even remember the name of.
mid shoot they decided they needed a girl to dance topless to Oy Como Va, and since Douglas was a co director, we had a 5 hour lunch while he "auditioned breasts".

George Martin. dinner interview in 1997 while editor of a music trade-mag.
What does a loser like me actually say to George Martin?

Billy Ray Cyrus. interview when he was trying to shill his comeback single. it took all my power to drop a loaf in the room and just leave.

Peter Camejo. Californians will know this guy. me like him. him smart man.

the guy who plays Sam Losco on Trailer Park Boys. was in Halifax coming out of a Tim Horton's while on tour and looked at my bandmates. shouted OH MY GOD and tried to catch up with him on the street. He dresses exactly the same in real life.
Later that night the club we were playing at (The Marquis / Hell's Kitchen) Julian and Ricky were there In Character.
seems no one on the east coast is particularly enamoured of the phenomenon. everyone there just said "yeah, yeah, whatever" in response to my elation.

bored yet?

My best friend works for NFL Films, so I've met a lot of football players. Shaun Alexander is a great guy (but very religious, not someone to make many off-color jokes around), and Dewayne Washinton cb, Vikings/Steelers is one of the nicest guys I've ever met (also on the God squad, big time). I went to shake keyshawn johnson's hand and instead of shaking, he handed me the dirty napkin he had just wiped hot wing juice off of his mouth with and walked off. I've hated him ever since. And he was a real bastard to everybody at Films, too. Come to think of it, most receivers were. :-k

Besides that, I did work on Andie McDowell's house (her name is Rose Gowan or something like that in real life.) I thought she was nice, but most people I talk to had different experiences.

I met too many to count.

My list of famous people I know would dwarf many people here, mainly because for a while I was married to a professional Hollywood makeup artist. I also used to design special effects computer software for movies. Such makeup women make tons of long term buddy connections because of the countless hours of makeup for every movie. Plus they do album cover photoshots, magazine covershoots, political leaders (active Governors and even the newly ex vice president).

Not only that, but for years I lived in the hollywood hills in a 2750 per month house on the top of Mulholland Drive near the Hollywood sign (the epicenter of it all).

Many hollywood parties were staged at my home, and I was also invited to many others.

Additionally weddings, holiday feasts, oscar parties, premier parties, taping invites, set invites, nights on the town, etc.

So basically, I met hundreds of famous people.

One thing younger actresses (and most actors too) all have in common :

1> They hate being alone, EVER, and desire buddies to sleep over, or to crash at your place. Its almost pathological.

2> They are VERY promiscuous, abnormally so. They almost create contrived situations to be caught in the nude, or in underwear, or have a robe slip.... not to mention their topics of conversation.

3> They all smoke, and only seem to drink Red wine. I hate smokers, but they all smoke... even in non smoking places (but they sometimes convert non smoking places into quick private bar parties by tossing some money at a club owner and posting a doorman)

4> They all remember EVERY little detail of conversation about your personal life and genuinely are sweet and caring and want to be liked and loved. Odd. I expected the opposite. Only headliners of rock bands hat attitudes socially.

5> They cannot sign autographs in public.... if so crowds build up very very quickly attracting more people in a rapid swarm and when they finally have to escape they are assaulted with obscenities... EVERY TIME!

6> They are very frugal with money, except for cars, real estate, vacations, restaurant investments, and gifts to blood relatives (not buddies).. VERY VERY frugal. Examples : Though they use $5,000 for haircuts for a golden Globes presentation using business writeoffs, they use 15 dollar (fifteen dollar) Korean nail parlors! and they use PAY AS YOU GO gyms, not subscription gyms, etc. Amazingly frugal.

7> They never get to really eat and are drastically underweight. In persons you can count every rib showing on their backs. RIB BONES! somehow the camera really does ad 15 pounds. Sometimes I see them have to choose a single cookie for their entire outing. one small cookie.

8> none ever talk business, but if they start talking business... its solid high speed jargon and business talk nonstop.

9> they are all maudlin and sentimental

10>They all use AOL and are mostly computer illiterate. Admittedly, if I was on the road a lot I might use AOL too though.

11> The gossip supermarket tabloids magazines enrage and upset them all because of misinformation.

12> They sit home a lot and watch TV or movies, rarely going outside and do not have large homes until they are in their mid thirties regardless of how successful they are in their twenties or even teenage years. Tiny houses all over Hollywood. You would be shocked. The apartments they rent sometimes have almost no furnishings either! And I am talking about leading stars! Frugal. Regarding board games… they love board games with buddies at other peoples homes and their own.

13> They all truly know each other. Film knows film, and music biz knows music people. Every star knows every other star. Its like a high school and they all know every bit of gossip. Gossip travels so fast you would not believe it. I tried to impress one person with an arrest of one star on a drug charge not one hour old, and when I made the call the other person already knew from the high speed grapevine. They all know everyone also because non-stars in the industry live on gossip (Wardrobe department, screenwriters, etc, and spread it.

14> fbi and police like to give them all special service off studio lots, mainly regarding anti-stalker activities… but they have no security staff off-lot. On lot or in studio they have sometimes 5 security people (lawsuit stuff I guess).

15 > they all feed a lot of mouths : business agent, publicist, manager coordinator, PA (personal assistant), accountant, lawyer, house caretakers, personal hair and makeup.

man on street: hey tard, what time is it?
tard: well, first you gotta get some springs and little wheels and something to use for the hour and the minute hands. now most people go with arabic numbers for the face, but I'm partial to roman. ok, now take a tiny screwdriver and one of the springs in your left hand. place it in the casing...oh wait i forgot to tell you, you'll need a casing and what's called a crystal -- the clear front part. So then..... :phfreak:

yeah - Larry Linville was certainly one of the most underrated MASH characters. truly hard to play such a pathological character, and he did an excellent job of it.

i know most of us are just posting short lists of people we've met - and i'll bet for most of us these meetings are related to the field(s) we work in...

I will ALWAYS kick myself for failing to follow up on an interview assignment to interview Hunter S. dammit. a formal invite for 3 days at Woody Creek after much vetting thru his agent and 'secretary'... but then the magazine backed out on the $$ for travel - which i would have paid out of pocket gladly - but by that time the plug had already been pulled by the assignment editor, and I could not ammend the sitcheeation.

But on the other hand, meeting former British MP Robin Cook (rip), and MP George Galloway were nice consolations.

some of us media weasels should post audio clips of interviews! I have a few minute interview with new Canadian PM Stephen Harper that i think people should hear.

Bowlhaircut,

I do not know why you are being doubtful of my lengthy post. I have no reason to prop up a damned anonymous internet account with any falsehoods or alterations of facts, ever. That serves no purpose and I am not a person that gets thrills hoaxing, though I realize Phil Hendrie’s show is itself a hoax, I am referring to myself. I was married into the major film industry, its nothing special, I explained how I knew them all.

But I do not want to drop a single celeb name. I am not a Clara Bingham. Amusingly you listed a couple names of people by coincidence that I have sat next to (one seat away, and adjacent once) at major events. I'd be able to cite a specific published national magazine photo of one of them but my face was deliberately airbrushed out into a blur! (But I kept my engraved leather bound invitation to that specific recent event in my archives). But I will not continue with your baiting Bowlhaircut. I am not in this thread to list a single name. I will not list them. When you make pals with enough of them... you just don’t bother any more. I took the time to list what I wrote because it was shockingly interesting to me when I discovered how oddly similar the famous film and tv celebs truly are. Music people too to a degree are very similar, especially the female headliners and bandmembers in rock (not pop).

I must say I'm very jealous of the guys who got to meet Machine Head and Hunter S. Thompson.

I still bang my head to the 'The Burning Red' album and I love reading HST. I highly recommend him to anybody.

if you dig HST, i highly recommend reading H.L. Mencken and I.F. Stone!!

then give the 'Proud Highway' a good read. It's incredible to see the genesis of HST's developing his style.

there is no question those two (brilliant) authors were a major influence on him.

I've met quite a few, but the stand outs are Muhammed Ali, John Ashcroft, Bob Dole (Funny as hell) George & Barbara Bush and GW Bush.

The first time I met George and Barb, I got to spend about an hour with them and they were incredible. We talked about baseball and such and I mentioned an old picture I had seen of him when he played baseball in Yale. He was in uniform standing on the pitchers mound next to Babe Ruth, who was in a suit. The next day the phone rings and the caller ID shows GEO BUSH. (I made mud). It was his press secretary asking for my address. The very next day I had that picture at my door signed to me. The back of the photo is stamped, "Official White House Photograph".

James Caan (I gave him a pizza)

A boy band called Soul Decision

Carmen Rassmussen and a bunch of other American Idol losers (she's the only one whose name I remember b/c she's from Utah)

Reuben Studdard

Clay Aiken (I had a crush on him until then... it was at that moment that I KNEW he was gay)

Peter Dante (Grandma's Boy)

Justin Long

Jonah Hill (Grandma's Boy/40 Year Old Virgin)

Jeremy Piven (he was interesting - a little bit egotistical, but nice)

Rapper named Common

Vanilla Ice (totally annoying)

Peppa from Salt and Peppa

Andrea Lowell (from Playboy TV)

Ron Jeremy (ewwwww...)

Chyna (wrestler)

Tracy Bingham (she is SO gorgeous and nice)

Emanuel Lewis (so cute and nice)

Vern Troyer (Mini Me in Austin Powers. He was totally hitting on me. It was pretty hilarious! He's SOOOOO tiny!)

and of course...

Phil Hendrie

That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there were more.

I don't want to name drop but on accounta being a muse--NOT groupie-- for a few bands back in the day, I have encountered many of the infamouse in the music biz.

But one of my favorite celeb encounters was a smack down my X BF and I have with Johnny Depp and Kate Moss over shuffle board game at a dive in Aspen.

I met with Liz Taylor at Marshall Fields in Chicago when she was there for a perfume launch and the bitch scared the be-jeezuz outta me.

I have it on my to do list to interview the TomKate baby.

You know who I am most afriad of meeting in person? PHIL HENDRIE. Everyone I know who has met him has warned me that he would prod me in the wrong way. And everybody know that Phil has something against petite women. Reference: Many Rudy Canoza bits in which Rudy ridicules petite women and claims that he cannot make us look good in his lingerie...not even make us look better and that petite women get the fog horn along with the fatties.

I hear ya...I spend a lot of time in Aspen. You the place is crawling with "celebs".
One of my favorite encounters was when Arnold Shwartzenegger (sp?)

I used to play basketball with the guy that played Puddy in Seinfeld (Elaine’s BF), I think his name is Patrick. He was a nice guy, not much of a baller though. Sinbad also played there briefly before he hurt his knee. There were a lot of Soap Opera and other D list actors that used to play ball at that Gym, as well as a few former American Gladiators including:
Gemini – Nice guy, former NFL player.
Malibu – Asshole, I found out later from my sister that he got busted for Workers Comp fraud, when he was caught appearing in a Chippendale’s video while he was collecting money for a bad back
Nitro – Decent guy

There were quite few other celebs that worked out there besides me (I’m kidding) including:
Dr Dre who worked out with his parents and bodyguards/trainers (all wearing matching track suits):rap:
The chick that does the Overstock.com commercials (a stunningly beautiful woman):heartbeat:
The guy who played the sales guy on WKRP
Kirk Cameron and his sister
Cobi Jones (soccer) – wee little dude
Jackie Joyner Kersee (track)
Plus numerous Porn Stars – The San Fernando Valley is the porn capitol of the world after all.

I went to a Velvet Revolver concert in Austin a couple years ago and on the return flight Slash was sitting in front of me and Scott Weiland was sitting across the aisle from me :pop: . Weiland is a weird dude and was obviously chemically enhanced :pills: , while the rest of the band slept the whole way back to L.A. (it was an early morning flight), Weiland just sat like a statue and stared straight ahead at the seat in front of him (not unlike Puddy in that one Seinfeld episode). As the rest of the band was walking toward their awaiting limos, I heard the manager say “Where’s Scott?” Apparently he was still on the plane staring at the seat in front of him.

One time I ran into Angela Bassett in the elevator at an airline lounge. I was going to mess with her and tell her how much I admired her work in Sister Act, but chickened out.

In college I worked with Jennifer Aniston’s brother (half-brother?), that was before she hit it big with Friends. At the time she was on the short lived Ferris Bueller’s Day Off TV Series.

Oh and I met Carol Burnett when I was kid, I didn’t know who she was, but my mom got a big kick out of it. She was extremely nice.

Her mother died of skin cancer on February 20, 1976, when Jenna was two years old.

I'd tell ya to google it, but you'll probably spell it wrong, so:

Ivan Stewart, a living legend in off-road
racing, has made the nickname "Ironman"
a true reality. He has successfully over-
come the toughest obstacles in off-road
racing throughout his 28-year career.

Holy shit, Russy. As Wages pointed out, that damn goat looks too friggin' happy - sort of like its on a different plane; or, having the momentary epiphany of an ejaculation while Lar' does his dreamiest best.

So Toby, you've met Moby Games, the definitive source for PC games? That's impressive. I hope to someday meet Ahab Games.

Saw Captain Sensible on the Northern Line last night. He was talking to a couple of very excited bowls & wearing a womans coat.

back when i was in tampa, i went to a movie after school one night and guess who came in sat infront of me and my friend...

the big show

if you dont know who he is, he is a pretty famous wrestler in the wwe (even though his name would fit better in a strip club)
so my friend who is very outgoing, and both of us being wrestling fans at the time, lets out a loud sigh and a grunt, to which the 7 foot 350 lb behemoth turns around and says smiling "if you got a problem buddy we can take this outside"... he was real nice though and talked to us like we were friends... even though i almost pinched one off when he turned around
