Am I a douche?

I know I'm asking for it, but anyway, here goes.

I had a portable DVD player that I bought from Circuit City. When I bought it in '05, I figured it would probably break so I paid for the 4 year extended protection plan.

Recently I figured out it won't play any copied DVDs. Also the door to the DVDs wouldn't close all the time, it would stick open.

I was in Circuit City two days ago and I noticed these portable players had gotten way cheaper and all played copied DVDs.

Yesterday, I took my player back and said that it wouldn't play and the door would stick open. The guy at customer service didn't even check it an just gave me a store credit. I then bought a new player with a bigger screen, a new case, and another 4 years protection and they still ended up owing me 2 dollars.

Am I a douche for doing this? (I may be a douche anyway but I'm talking about this incident.)

HELL no. Fuck that company any way you can with no lube. Their markup is ridiculous. I wouldn't even buy a staple remover from those fuckers. Good job.

No, but i'm not a fan of protection plans. (Although that first one paid off for you)

I returned a 42" Plasma to Best Buy and they never opened the box, I could have put rocks in it for all they knew. They gave me full credit for it.

You're absolutely in the right. Usually an outsourced company takes the hit on that. The douches are the ones who don't take advantage of the protection plans and let them expire.
