It's Cloverfield with zombies instead of a giant monster. It looks pretty good, though. It supposed to be a 'prequel" of sorts. I was listening to the O&A interview he (George Ramero) just did a few days ago and he said it took them 20 days to make it and it had a super low budget.

I don't know if i'll find the slow moving zombies as creepy anymore, especially after watching the Dawn of the Dead remake and 28 Days/Weeks Later. It already looks better then his last zombie flick (Land Of The Dead), though. That was a big piece of shit and one of the worst zombie flicks I ever watched. John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper? Get the fuck out of here with that shit, man.
I think old George is trying to end on a high note and make an actual creepy zombie flick before he kicks the bucket. If I was him i'd want to redeem myself and wash the stink off that is Land of the Dead.

George is actually proud of Land of the Dead, though I'm like you, I don't really understand why. I think he's happy because it made his big statement comparing the facist characters to Bush/Cheney. George is a real tool when it comes to politics. His stuff is better when it's social commentary rather than political.
Night = racism (though that was only because of casting)
Dawn = consumerism
Day = ??? (I forget, but he discussed with O&A)
This new one is more abut the whole video-saturated culture we live in today, so hopefully it'll be decent.

I agree, Land of the Dead was really gay. And that's unfortunate because the basic premise had so much potential. What is life like after virually everyone is turned into a zombie? Like I said, the story itself is fascinating.
But Lasco is right, he tried to make that movie more about a statement of some wacko Bush/Cheney tyranny conspiracy theory than about something that most people could identify with. Hell, the plot of the movie was less about the zombies and more about class warfare and a dictator of sorts who did a really bad job at acting.
This is why I Am Legend made for a much better "zombie" flick than Land of the Dead did. It gave the viewer a glimpse of what life might be like if humanity disapeared, but it also made the viewer realize that playing God with technology and biology can have it's consequences.
The problem with a lot of these Hollywood Bush haters, is that despite all of the griping they do about civil liberties and the Patriot Act and all that other bs. They fail to realize that our society is still in tact. We don't have martial law, Bush hasn't declared himself as supreme ruler and large groups of people aren't being hauled off to giant ovens or into mass concentration camps. We still have the right to speak out and no one that I know of, is being forced to give up their land... oh wait... only Justice Suter from the supreme court is doing that, not Bush.
What I'm saying is, is that until those things become reality and become a major problem in our society, no one is going to be emotionally moved by some obsure politcal statement that's being shoehorned into some really bad movie. When Bush decides to extend his Presidency until his death and starts putting us in prison for speaking out of turn, then I'll give Land of the Dead a second change despite the fact that it will still be shit.

Yeah, Bip. I can think of at least 4 billion people that I could do without. I won't get into the particulars of that list, but let's just say that all of them have something in common.... they're not like me or you or anyone else on SFJ. lmao lmao I kid.... sort of.

Belasco hit the nail on the head. His social commentary is easier to accept, but his political bullshit is way over the top. The fact that they casted Dennis "I'm Dennis Hopper, man" Hopper as a neo-nazi right wing tyrant is fucking insane.
Even his social commentary is off. The whole thing about Dawn of the Deads statement was that consumerism was going to lead to Americas downfall and destruction is laughable considering how it hasn't turned out that bad. I can maybe understand that thinking back then, but the fact is he was way off. Also, I don't think NOTLD statement was intended to be about racism. It was about the revolutions and movements going on back then. They just happened to cast a negro and it added the extra element. As for Day of the dead, that was mostly about the failures of goverment institutions such as the military and how they do bad things.
Either way, I wish he would focus more on creeping me out then telling me his opinion.
