When i was a kid i got this bad boy for my birthday one year.

Did the viewer have a strap? Or did it have to be on that stand?

I have a similar story. I was all psyched up to get this portable video game sytem when i was a kid, got it and played it for a day or two tops.

THE LINX!

FYI- The two games i had were Blue lightning, and Electrocop.

I remember the LINX. My local toy/hobby store had a display with a surfing game on it. I played it at the store for about 15 minutes and got tired of it. I think it cost around $250 bucks.

(edit) the one I'm thinking about was one of the earliest handhelds with a color screen.

This was the big techmology I wanted as a kid--and when it came out, it was closer to my kid bro's birthday, so he wound up getting it, and I pretty much used it more 'an he did (and used it for playing 8-track tapes). It used the four buttons of the 8-track to answer trivia questions about different shit, and if you were wrong, it would trigger some response telling you you're a really dumb fuckin' kid. I dug it.

Is that an Apple II ? That was the first coputer i ever use. We hd them in elementry school. Wow... this is a crazy memory... Besides their main function, to do math problems and spelling games on, there was this one disk that had a bunch of pictures and after we did our work, we could print these pics out and color them or some shit. I remember printing out this owl that looked like the "FLy By Night" cover. You must have been able to ad text to it because i remember it saying "fly by night." I colored it all sweet and hung it on my wall at home. Kinda freaky that i would have been listening to rush back then.

in 1968, I received one of these. It used it's own proprietary cartridges that contained 2 songs each. Mine came with 2 cartridges, Neil Diamond and 3 Dog Night. Those same 4 songs got old pretty fast but at least it didn't switch tracks mid song like on some 8-track tapes.

That's awesome, Ed. I remember it was exciting as hell when my best friend got one of those for x-mas. We immediately started filming short movies that were, of course, shit.

Interestingly (or not) I've heard that there's a whole subculture of artsy-fartsy types who still use the PXL 2000. I've seen a good number of clips on youtube but nothing worth posting here.

FOund this on the wiki when i was looking this up earlier....

The PXL2000 was used by Richard Linklater in his 1991 debut film Slacker, during the bar scene.
Filmmaker Sadie Benning has also used the PXL2000 in some of her video works.
It was also used by Michael Almereyda for three of his films: the 1992 film Another Girl Another Planet, which was entirely shot with a PXL2000, his 1993 short Aliens, and his 1994 film Nadja, in which the PXL2000 was used for point of view shots of the title character. Ethan Hawke's character in Hamlet can also be seen with one.

How do you get/buy points for that thing, Fu? You gotta sign up and buy 'em online, or can you do it from the console? If I can find (and play) the old "Caveman Games" for the NES, it's over. That was the best game I can remember--it was banned, even.

When the wii came out, you could only buy points on cards at stores. Now you can buy points directly from the console with a credit card.

$10 = 1000pts

You can order in increments of 10, 20, 30, etc.

The Sav
01-25-2008, 06:48 PM
Xbox's points purchasing system is really fucking stupid.... $12.50 for 600 points are something like that. I don't remember. But leave it to Microsoft to make things as complicated as they can possibly make it, instead of simply doing it in a way that makes sense.

They should have it set up like Nintendo does...

1000 for $10 and so on. Why is that so hard?
