Got a macbook and iPod touch last week. I'm really impressed by both. Never used either before after years of windows and drag and drop mp3 players.
So what should i know about the mac?
I've downloaded adium and neooffice for it. What are the cool/must have apps? Any tips on maintenance?
Cos i bought the macbook in the US it worked out around 35% cheaper than here but i've no warranty cos its only valid in the country where it was bought. Anyone got Applecare? I'm told I can get a 3 year plan on ebay for around 100 smackers so it seems like a no-brainer but i'm not sure.
What's the best way to clean soya mocha skinny latte stains off a macbook?
Thanks.

Howie, is Easynews really heavy with the Mac warez? Like, does anyone know if you can get ProTools or Final Cut Pro for Mac easily on that shit?
I'm SO entrenched in being able to control my OS and file structure that I could never dream of using a Mac, but those two pieces of software have always made me thinking about the possibility of running two systems (though I'm really not convinced there's any benefit of a Mac outside of those two warez, and certainly not considering how PC-centric the Internet is).

Get familiar with the included iLife apps especially GarageBand. That app is worth it's weight in gold to me for podcast and general audio production.
The video editor (iMovie) has changed with the latest iLife suite, I think I like the previous versions better, but it beats the shit out of Windows movie editor.
And try to get comfortable with the Terminal. You wouldn't believe how much power you get to do amazing things with a Unix command line.

I am about to buy a MacBook Pro soon here for my business. We use PCs for our desktops (they work great), but I want to get a stand alone notebook that's not on our network for all of the graphics/video/web stuff that I do. We just got an HD Camcorder, so this will be great for that. I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended already on my PC, so I am hoping I can get a Mac serial number when I deactivate this one. Same with Adobe Acrobat (which I know I have a Mac serial # for) and a bunch of other graphics and video programs I have.
Anyone know how well Macs interact with PCs? I'm probably going to get it with Leopard on it, too.
I also play guitar, so I will be using it for that as well on off hours.

Leopard talks with Windows better than Tiger from what I've heard. I haven't upgraded yet and probably won't. I'll be getting a new iMac once the early bugs are worked out.
