I am pretty sure he is talking about the ring o lights on the front of the Xbox, not the adaptor. on the other hand i may need to get one of those wireless adaptors when i move.

If four quadrants are flashing red it means the power cable isn't properly connected.
If three are flashing red it means its fucked. The famous Red ring of Death.

I just got red ringed today, my 2nd in about two months. Luckily I have another!
Russel, make sure all your cables are connected tight. If the A/v cable is unplugged you'll get that red shit.

Russel, call 1800- 4MY-XBOX and start a repair order. They will send you a box that should arrive in a week that you can use to send to 'box to Microslut. The turnaround time is a about 2 weeks based on my experience.

No but i've heard of a few.
Apparently all 360s made from mid Aug 2007 onwards have a new motherboard and smaller cpu/gpu that is not likely to suffer overheating and flexing that caused the red rings.
Harwarewise they're pieces of shit really. Noisy and unreliable but as we all know the games and online service kick ass.

Woah steady on. AFAIK MS have extended the warranty to three years worldwide. Just call them and they'll replace/repair it no questions asked.

My 360 is dead for the 3rd time. Some special supervisor from MS is gonna call me and setup the repair. My other 360 has a drive tray that is wonked, but it has worked well for over a year.

ANYONE READING THIS, CONSIDERING AN X-BOX ('cept for one guy, and he knows who he is), BUY THE FUCKING ELITE!! I've gone through three regular X-Boxes, Melon's gone through three, Howie's had his shit blow up a few times... they aren't worth it (not until they go to repair and have the new heat sinks put in, or whatever the fuck they do now). It's a few bucks more, but you're almost GUARANTEED to have yours blow the fuck up otherwise.
I think it's nauseating. And, the worst part, Russ?! You have to now go get a data migrating cable and migrate your data onto your new hard drive before you can send your old one back (or, some Haji will have your CC info if you used your XBox to buy shit). NIGHTMARE!!

I'm not sending them my hard drive, FUCK no. "Ben" even said I could send it back without it, as long I gave 'em the serial number, so they're getting the component only. I wish I'da bought an Elite. Thing is, even though I've it had 3-4 months now, I've only played it maybe 100-200 hours. I've gone three weeks without firing it up when busy.

This thread has me scared... I never knew about the level of problems that buyers are having with this thing.
I didn't even know what the difference between the Elite and the regular one was. So of course, my cheap ass went and bought the cheaper one (the non-Elite). Of course, as Melon said, I got my XBOX 360 in late September, so maybe it's a part of that August batch of systems that aren't prone to overheating.
This system is like a fourth kid for me.... I can't imagine my life without it.

lmao lmao Wait i'm only talkin about the hardware here! - reliability, build quality etc. I should have clarified that.
I'm on my third 360 and it sounds like a 1960's vaccum cleaner everytime i turn it on. The ps3 is completely silent and they don't break.
But yes In terms of the online setup i doubt the ps3 will ever be as good as the 360 is now. Plus the games on 360 look to be better for at least the next 12 months.

Yes but its only ever going to be an add now on so no games will ever be able to take advantage of the HD-DVD capacity.
Microsofts strangest decision with the 360 was not releasing all of them with a hard drive. I'd imagine only a small proportion of 360 owners have the core model with has no hard drive so in effect ALL games have to be developed without the need for a hard drive to accomodate the core owners.
This is already proving to be a problem for developers as they have to run everything straight off the disc and from RAM and its already having a noticable effect on games.
During many sections of Half Life 2 on the 360 the game is constantly interrupted by loading screens that wouldn't be necessary if a large one off hard drive installation was included. Great fucking game nonetheless.

Same with Dead Rising. Every time you enter a new wing of the mall "loading" for about 30 seconds, which is a minor annoyance, but still -if it coulda been avoided...
