I don't have a Magnum Opus, or anything that fancy. In fact, I've never had anything that had to be really put together -that Kite in your photos has at least 8 battens, 2 camber inducers and 2-4 standoffs. I've flown kites at that level, but it becomes like a musical instrument at that point. You have balsa wood you can't afford to get moist, each rope and pull has to be tight but not bunched, the measurements all have to be freakin' PERFECT. But it'll fly like you're driving a goddamn sports car. And there's a process everytime you set it up or break it down, and adjustments to be made. If you're the kinda guy who enjoys that, this'll be a kite you can make people get into kites over. I'm just too slack to get into hobbies past a certain point of effort.

Two line kite right?

Man I have one that is soooooo close to it, I couldn't tell without digging it out, mine is two line and looks just like that kite even the panel config exept mine has two additional spars mid-wing rear. Very close to that not exact.. Those are tough to fly. Mine does not have the spar on the leading edge either.

Anyone remember those killer plastic Gala kites from the Sevnties, the ones what had the big eyeballs on each side? I'd KILL for one of them today.

Man, I didn't even figure out how to set that up until I read an article on it, oh wait, no.. Those were the instructions.

These kites look better and are more functional when hanging from the ceiling of a loft for decoration.

Anyway, I spent 10 hours just figuring out how to get the angle of the dangle on the lines. And you need a patient launcher too.

But when you get it,. It's pretty sweet to shoot back and forth.

Let's put crushed glass and razors on the lines and go to the beach!

Oh ya, w/ a long ass tail with strips of tee-shirt!

They had the black....

Then the YELLOW and Black.... Used to see a lot of 'em in trees eh?

They were real thick mill plastic, bet you could find one on Ebay if they don't still make 'em.
