Well the new album is coming out next week. I am super geeked, as radiohead has become one of my all time favorites. Now get this...... You cant get the album in stores. You can only get it online.

I read that article Ed, and the take I am getting is that you ARE able to buy it on CD, as well. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong. Then again, I won't be buying it, so it doesn't matter to me much.

"The album, helmed by longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, is available in two versions via the band's new, rainbow-y site: as a standard download or as a deluxe edition that comes with Rainbows on both CD and vinyl, plus a second disc of new songs and a lyric book."

EDIT: I may be misreading Ed's comment. Too lazy to delete the whole comment. Carry on....

If you buy the box set you will get the album on CD (as well as the download on october 10.) The box set wont come out untill december. But you cant just buy the New CD by itself, that is only available by download, at a price you decide. YOu should at least download it taco! Its free music from one of the best bands ever!!!

The box set sounds nice but I'll probably just be paying 65 cents a song for it though.

I think you are thinking of canadian dollars DJB.

Now you're just trying to mess with me because we all know that the Canadian dollar is just about even with the US dollar.

Todays exchange rate is 1 Pound = 2.03874 USD.

So 40 British Pounds is equal to $81.35

But if you insist, please buy two of them and I'll pay you $20.00 for one giving you a healthy $6.00 profit.

There's a lot of Radiohead that I like alot and a some not so much.

Everything In It's Right Place is one of me favs. I'm not sure why but it's a great song for unwinding at the end of a super busy week where alot was accomplished. Not so much for the lyrics but the feel of the song just seems hauntingly appropriate and conveys a nice sense of closure.

 I actually feel that the first two tunes on the album dont really fit the rest of the albums feel, but i do like them. Especially the beat in 15 step.

mysticllama
10-16-2007, 07:27 AM
15 step is probably my favorite song, because I think they made use of a really interesting beat to structure the song around. It reminds me of vodou drums when they're going in a really complex beat pattern. Jigsaw Falling into Place has some nice complexity to it as well (and the bass in some spots reminds me of Kiss Off by the Violent Femmes, which is a Good Thing(TM) in my little world).

Finishing up listening to it this morning - as djb said about a previous Radiohead album, this is a nice one for unwinding to. I'll never see the name Radiohead and not think of the Talking Heads song though. ;)

It's a big deal alright, Ed. Lots of coverage from pretty much every daily newspaper, & the broadsheets had a load of column inches discussing whether this is the end of the cd & record shops as we know them.

Radiohead are still massive here, despite having done everything possible to drive away the mainstream listeners since OK Computer. And even THAT was less mainstream than The Bends. I'm not a huge Radiohead fan, but you've got to respect them for sticking to their guns & making the music they want to make.

I think it was Demiurge and i who had the discussion about whether this was a genuine cool move by the band or just a giant PR move.... well i have now switched to the side of demiurge. This whole thing has become a fuckin joke. Here is a post i made on the radiohead board after receiving a bullshit attomated responce from the company distributing the box, W.A.S.T.E. (radioheads own merchandising company.)

Well i got the same email. What a joke. They really dropped the ball with this. Maybe they meant December 20th, 2008. Nice to know that once i finally recieve my dispatch email i'll still have another 2-3 weeks wait before i get it. Horrible business practice. I would much rather see a DAS post apologizing to everyone who spent their money on the discbox expecting to get it when it was "RELEASED" than some pompous "Here's what you (our fans) should do to save the earth when you come to see us on tour" BS post. This is egg on radioheads face in my book. I would have much rather they released it in the "normal" "big Label" sort of way. This is utter bullshit. As i mentioned in a previous thread, this whole groundbreaking move by radiohead, a slap to the face of record labels and the music industry as a whole, is now looking like it was nothing more than one giant publicity stunt under the guise of rebellion.

Honestly though, Its nuts being back in a super populated area, i actually don't like it. I went to go out to eat and EVERYplace was packed. And packed with asian and indians. I don't know whats going on here but I am a minority here. Asains and Indians everywhere. I was in a CVS and there was an anouncment in chinese or some shit.

I came back to the hotel and ordered a pizza. Fuck that madness out there.

Have fun, Ed. There are tornadoes touching around in NC, you're in northern VA, right?

I don't know much about tornadoes and I certainly don't know anything about bikes but wouldn't that make for an outstanding wheelie??

Well i just returned from the show. It was awesome, as expected. It never stopped raining, luckily i was under the roof of the pavilion. However the road i took to get there flooded so i had to take an alternate route. All in all an outstanding show, the band was right on, except for one song where Thom Yorke stopped mid verse and craacked up, who knows at what. But the picked up where they left off, and he cracked up again. Then they restarted and it went well. It was cool to see thom not all cranky and down.

The lights were fantastic and come in second as best light show ever to NIN's lightshow on the "With Teeth" tour.

Is the lighting important from a weed-smoking perspective? And how much did you "blaze" during the show?

the deta

Wasn't much lightning Wage, at least that i could see being under the roof.

I blazed a one single doob over the course of the show.

Well im going to another radiohead show on monday. Its gonna kick ass. On a related note, here is their video for their song "house of cards" It was shot with no cameras and instead captured by some crazy 3d scanning systems. Enjoy!

It looks like those plates full of metal pins at the game stores where you stick your grille into it and it leaves an impression.

Hey, Ed... that's some depressing tunery. If I lived alone in a remote mountain and kept having cookery stolen from my balcony, and smoked a lot of Feck weed, I'd maybe consider listening to a LOT of Starland Vocal Band and maybe some ABBA. Lift yer spirits a little.

Cool videya though.

(I half kid; High & Dry is one of the best ballads I've heard in 15 years, which is sayin' a lot. But, it is some dark-ass shit.) :tip:
