My very first introduction to video games was all the way back in '79. My dad took me to a pizza parlor and all I could see was the glow of the arcade. It intrigued me as I'm sure it would intrigue any three year old. So my Dad gave me some tokens and I went to the first Arcade machine that looked good and that was Galaxian. I put the token in and it was a instant adrenline rush although it lasted me less than a minute and I sucked. For some reason because of that I hated it until years later when I went back to a arcade and became pretty good at it. It ranks up there with my favorite 500 games of all time.

Mine was the Atari 2600 version of pong, whatever it was called. Might have just been called Tennis or something.

That would be called a cocktail table. I'd love those because not only could you play your favorite game in one hand you could also take a bite of that pizza in the other.

I played "Pong".
A couple years later I got an Atari 2600.
I miss games that you can just pick up and play. Now you have to read an instruction manual the size of Kurtz's dossier before you can even begin playing. They're fun, but sometimes I just want to jump in, play for 15 - 20 minutes and then move on.

Can't remember my actual first game, but we owned a console before the Atari 2600. It was triangular shaped and Pong on one side, a light gun game on the 2nd and a driving game on the 3rd. It had cartridges (also triangle shaped), but we never got any different ones. After a year or so, we upgraded to the Atari 2600.

I don't remember my first arcade game- but our first console game was the Atari 2600- that was 1981 or '82. Defender was a favorite as was PacMan, despite the primitive graphics. The very thought of playing (arcade) Tempest still sends a chill up and down my spine to this day.

No you're right, Pitfall wasn't bad. I guess I mainly mean because of the controllers. That flat disc they had for directional control blew. It was so imprecise, and I think I still have a numb flat spot on my thumb. Plus when Nintendo came along with its perfect version of my arcade favorite Donkey Kong, I was screwed. Yeah right, like my parents are gonna buy me a Nintendo after they just mortgaged the house to get me a freakin' Intellivision.

I can not remember the name of it but it was a driving game. It wasn't Pole Position, it was something else. It was probably 1982 or so, I had to have been 5 years old. I remember playing Pac Man too but that driving game at the arcade was the first. I remember it was a red car and it was from an ariel view. Damnit. This is important, man.

RallyX! Those games are so damn hard nowadays. You'd tink they'd be simple, but you're stuck asking yourself "Two red buttons? Where's the gear selector button, the rear view mirror button, and I'll need at least 2 different brake buttons... Spoiled by Gran Turismo. Super Mario Bros. back on the old school Nintendo when I was like 3 (around 1990).
had to have been something on my friends TI-99/4A -- first kid in the neighborhood with a computer.. "Hunt the wumpus".. I was 6 or 7 yrs old in the early 80's... http://www.videogamehouse.net/cartsfh.html#wumpus what a lame-ass looking game..
my first game system was the Intellivision shortly thereafter... talk about a controller that mangled your thumbs... jesus christ..
then a C64 -- first game was Flight Simulator II
then I finally got an Atari 2600 (completely backwards) sometime in the mid 80's, so I could use all my friends games..

You had the Huge Ass Controller from Peenman Enterprises? Man, I could use one of those to clear the isles when I go shopping at WalMart.

anyone remember those mini-arcade games. they looked just like the real thing only 1/20th the size... Yeah, I had Donkey Kong, Pac Man, and Asteriods. I bet some loser on Ebay would probably pay big bucks for them too.
No offense W.E.
BTW, I'll give you a discount if you buy all three of them. I figure since I know ya, it's the least I can do. Just forward the funds to my pay-pal account. :poke:

There were suppose to be knobs where the holes are unless they can be re-attached it's unplayable. Also doesn't have the old school RF connector? Can you even hook those up to a modern day TV?
The connectors plug into those holes on the front. They are just RCA plugs. I have everything for it.

My first video game experience was the original Pong home console. It also had some kind of lightgun for a Skeet type game. After that we got the Atari 2600. I was a madman on Defender.
My first arcade play was Pac Man, probably. There used to be this cutting edge arcade game around the same time called Dragon Quest, I think. Rather than the typical clunky computer graphics it played like a cartoon. It was amazing but I could never manage to make it past the first level.

I remember that game but it was called Dragon's Lair. And I also believe the animation was by Don Bluth, the guy who animated several Disney movies and also The Secret of NIMH. We all thought it was the coolest game but we stopped playing it because we couldn''t ever get very far in it. We would all stop playing whatever game we were playing when someone new stepped up and started playing it because we wanted to see if he could get further in it than we could. Also, the one in our arcade broke alot, as I recall.

the problem was that you needed to find an opponent with equal skill level to have fun with it. the tank game was fun and so was the bi-plane game. but the controls were pretty bad though. i kept the game i got for christmas and would haul it out every time my kids would bug me for a video game system. they finally gave up.
