I will wear one sometimes to work in the summer if it's really fuckin' hot. But I always feel scuzzy in them if I'm dropping by the grocery store on the way home and see a cute chick I'd like to chat up. And if they get dirty while working (which they always do) you look like a fucking bum. So I'm not a big fan.

The funny thing is I am the one that made up that name. I started calling my white tank top style t-shirts "wife beaters" back in 1981. You will find no other reference to "wife beaters" before that date. I use to joke around that those shirts looked like something a wife beater would wear. You know the guy with a beer gut sittin' in his old easy chair with a bottle of booze in his hand yelling at his wife to get him another beer. I told that story over and over, and always used that phrase everytime I refered to the shirt, and now it is a common name. Ain't that beautiful, it's my claim to fame.... wife beaters...
