Lately, my right thumb has been twitching and cramping slightly, and I attribute it to being on the computer for long periods of time. I figured I could at least change things up a bit and get a new mouse for my home PC. Right now, I have some Logitech somethin or other with the thumb-controlled trackball; at work I use a conventional mouse. I was thinking about one of these (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Logitech-Marble-Mouse-904360-0403/sem/rpsm/oid/36184/catOid/-13017/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) but I don't know if that would help much.

I'd hate to catch carpal tunnel or come down with arthritis or some shit like that, and I'm thinking changing my mouse might be at least one thing I can do to keep an of that from happening. What do you guys recommend?

I doubt this helps, but I usually go with the one that has the smallest numbers on the tag in front of it.

I honestly don't like those trackball variants. HP seems to make good mice (their computers blow, but their accessories are good). I have a basic laser mouse from them, and it fills my needs just fine.

This might be a stupid question, but what the hell is a laserball?

Heaps, this ain't nothin' again' ya personally, but them trackball meeces are the WORST! I'm picky as hell when it comes to these things. Most of Microsoft's mice are big & bulky and over-weighted, that's why I go with an ultra-lean Logitch wireless/optical. The weight and size are critical, as is the accuracy, and I've never found one quite as good (so I bought three when it came out, knowing they would eventually move off this model to a shittier one within a year).

Here's a link (http://shopping.redorbit.com/product/logitech-cordless-mini-optical-mouse-wireless-optical-1-x-scroll-tilt-wheel-s-usb-8032618/index.html) to one the last ones I've been able to find. Again, this one's light and accurate as hell, plus it has a horizontal-scrolling feature on the wheel (critical), and it allows you to keep your thumb & pinky flat on the mouse pad while moving. Good luck, dude. :tipofthecap:

I gather that those "ergonomically correct" mice really aren't so much?

Edit: Bill, that looks worth checking out. I guess I never really considered the actual size of the mouse, either.
