I picked "other" for Africans. Real Africans, Nigerians in particular. I work for a company that supplies home health equipment, and this business is crawlin' with 'em. Some (one or two) are nice but most (all) of them are assholes. They did a HUGE Medicare scam awhile back where they were paying doctors to prescribe equipment a patient did not need. Then Medicare pays them $4000 for a $1000 powered wheel chair! Now because of them the Gov. is up the ass of every honest medical equipment dealer in Texas. Hey Hole, if you "like" Russians <snickers> then you'd love Vancouver, WA.

It's the St. Petersburg of the NW. I don't know what it is about our town that them commie's like so much. Maybe it's the vast amount of auto body shops, maybe it's the large amount of light industrial medical equipment assembly jobs, maybe it's the large quantity of radiology labs. Or maybe it's the gloomy overcast climate that reminds them of mother Russia. I don't know.

All I know is that it's crawling with Russians here. On my bus route, I have a high school, middle school and two grade schools... My first grade school, I haul around 30 kids. 7 are Russian or Urkrainian (same difference, lol) On my second grade school I haul around 45 kids and 18 are Russian/Urkrainian!!! That's 40%!!!

In my neighborhood, there's at least 15 houses that are inhabited by the Rooskies. They're always coming and going, they all have no less than 8 cars crammed into their driveways. Most of them nice cars, probably stolen. Their houses are small and look like crap, but they've got really nice cars, go figure. None of them have less than 12 people living in them and the demographics usually break down like this...

There's the male patriarch... Usually in his 50's, drives a truck for a living or runs a bakery.

Then there's at least 3 males between the ages of 16 and 24. Always working on a car of some sorts. All training to become diesel mechanics.

Then there's around 4 to 5 females... Ages very from teens to 30's. They're responsible for hemming clothes and going on walks around the neighborhood. They probably have jobs as massage therapists or work for a semi-conducter plant.

And last, there's the children, around 4. Ages 4 to 12. Two of them speak perfect english, the other two sound like the crazy drunk cosmonaut from Armegeddon.

They're too Rooskie-esque. Plus, they look like white folks but they got facial features that suggest otherwise. I know that the Mongolians ran wild in that part of the world about 1300 years ago, so maybe that's why they look so funny.

And the uber-religious folk are really beginning to tighten my jaws as well. As a former believer, I find this extremely disheartening that I was once like that! Don't get me wrong. I know tons of great, kind hearted people who believe in God. And I consider it a priviledge to know them. I also think that they genuinely make the world a better place because of their faith.

Yet, on the other hand. I know just as many dutch-bags that are "people of faith". And I know twice as many as the before mentioned groups combined, that believe in goofy concepts like, the world is only 6000 years old. Or they believe in stupid prophecies that could have been fulfilled a thousand times over, by virtue of how the event is interpreted.

I just found out the other day that my mother is a avid subscriber to the "Earth is only 6000 years old" theory. We were discussing global warming and I made some comment in how global warming isn't a new thing.... Everytime a new ice age ends, the Earth warms up. Well she didn't disagree with my stance on global warming, but she did take issue with me in saying that she doesn't beleive there was EVER an ice age.... She then said, if there was one, it happened way sooner than scientists predict because the Earth is only 6000 years old. I couldn't even respond.
