I can solve a scrambled one in a couple minutes. My record was 1:13 which is way far from the times the bowls get, but my excuse is that I'm white.

I just seen some news piece on this crap the other day. I think the fastest record for solving one is 7 seconds. JEEZUS! Makes me feel a WHOLE lot better about spending so much time on here.

I solved one when I was like 2. My mother thought I was a genius until she looked closer at it and realized I had actually just peeled the stickers off and put them back on so that each side was one color.

It's totally true that I can do it. About a year ago I got a cube for shits n' grins and then looked up how to solve the fucker, intending to use one of those java things where you input what color each square was and it tells you which way to turn it. I ended up finding a solution how-to what teaches you about 20 or so moves to memorize in order to solve it from any position. It's been a while since I've done it but I bet with a refresher I could keep it in the 2 - 3 min range. It's not very impressive once you've seen the 10 - 13 sec solve videos but those involve memorizing hundreds of combinations and once again, I'm white.
