How much longer do you think this war will last?

I'm guessing 5-10 years, I'm sure everyone here on SFJ knows someone who is over there now. You can trash this war all you want, but you have to remember that the Men and Women of our Armed Forces are fighting for America's freedom. If you can't support the troops, move to France or Germany.

I won't disagree about that, but don't you think that we are fighting a pointless war?

I say 1-5 years. 2008 will bring in a new Administration and Republican or Democrat they will likely change our role over there a bit. Hopefully whoever it is will not just abandon the work.
I would definately say that by 2011 the marjority of the troops will be home with small numbers still there but not on a war footing.

I think the war is going to go on for a long time. Iraq is just unstable and it's going to take time and help from someone other than the British; my opinoin.

This is a pretty tough question to just throw a number at.
There are other factors involved that will determine our stay. (I think)
N Korea. Iran.
When Ill drops a bomb on Japan or S Korea, all bets are off. Could be over in days after that.
Same goes for Iran, when they send a bomb over to Israel (As they promise)
JMHO.

Other countries should help and it would end this so much faster as well but, they sit and watch muslims killing muslims and lay that at our feet in spite....pretty much...other countries are sitting around and saying see, I told ya so! Plus they are cowards.

Hmmm, let's see. The wraps like to live in the 13th century pining for the good 'ole days of that infamous pedophile, Mohammed. So, if we bomb them back to the 7th century, they're happy, we're happy, Kim Jong and the Iranian turdburger both shit themselves, and we make our tee time.
Hey Rummy, call me baby. Let's do lunch.

How is this war pointless?
Iraq was invaded in March 2003 by a US-organised coalition with the stated reasons that Iraq had not abandoned its nuclear and chemical weapons development program according to United Nations resolutions. The reasons given for invasion included purported links to Al Qaeda, that Iraq had effective Weapons of Mass Destruction, to remove an oppressive dictator from power, and to bring democracy to Iraq. Recent (2006) conservative commentators have indicated that the actual reason for invasion was to create a democracy in Iraq for the sole purpose of deterring Iran. Subsequent post-invasion investigation did not uncover any evidence that the WMD programs were active; some chemical shells were found that were left over from the Iran-Iraq War.
Likewise, al-Qaeda had no presence in Iraq, being suppressed by the secular Iraqi government, until after the invasion when they exploited the insurgency to establish their organization in the country. The US established a Coalition Provisional Authority to govern Iraq. Government authority was transferred to an Iraqi Interim Government in 2004, but over 140,000 Coalition troops remain in Iraq and they continue to exert significant influence over the country. Insurgencies, frequent terrorist attacks, and sectarian violence have plagued the country since then. In 2006, Foreign Policy Magazine named Iraq as the fourth most unstable nation in the world.
The situation in Iraq is deteriorating by the day; in October 2006 former US Secretary of State James Baker referred to the situation in Iraq as being “A helluva mess.”

Hey phfreak... No offense, but you're just an 18 year old KID!!! You know very little about the world and absolutely nothing about Geo-politics, based on what I've read from your gloidy rants. Sure, Iraq is a mess, but that doesn't mean the war is pointless. I could go into all of the nuances as to why things are the way they are and what needs to be done to turn it around. But I'm too preoccupied with what color of goat you'll be fisting in my latest photoshop, to go into why you're completely wrong about Iraq.

I say five-ten years for Iraq, but with the added anoyance from N. Korea and Iran, the over-all War on Terror will last another 20-30 years at least.

If it shut you up HIF, then mition accomplished. Back to the war in Iraq, my Brother In Law mark is serving overthere, I posted a picture of him a few months ago, I'll gladly repost it here.
