The fact that you can easily buy more songs if you want (the Police pack looks highly decent, and PE's eyeing the Metallica pack), play multiplayer with/against friends and have 4 instruments you can mangle (er, that's in my case, I mean *Play*!) - AND you have a built in partner you can have fun with even if you're not going on XBox live (surely she'd be interested in playing?) makes this really a good buy.

Last night I sang - the Easy mode is pretty forgiving of pitch (which is great because 1/2 of the songs I've never heard before in my life) and Medium gets a little more strict. I'm going to practice a couple on hard this morning, surely I can sing freeking Tom Sawyer on Hard...

Coincidentally I'll be getting Halo 3 for my birthday which is a week later. That's what I'm really excited about. Maybe I'll find some of you guys on Xbox Live.

Until then I'll be playing COD4 on PC. You can't beat mouse and keyboard when it comes to shooters. If only the new Halo games would come out on PC when they are released on Xbox.

Normally you have to already be in a lobby/game that is joinable to be able to invite someone. Go to the Rock Band multiplayer screen and invite them there either through the game itself, or via the Xbox dashboard. Hope that helps.

It's not the first game to have an active Real Money Trading community - just in Second Life it's more or less sanctioned.

Ultima Online, one of the first MMO's to make the big press, had a very active community of players that would pay real money for ingame items. For sure, if you got in on the ground up and were persistent - there was money to be had. Everquest had a huge RMT community, and so did almost every MMO to come after it.

I just downloaded the Burnout: Paradise demo for 360. Burnout has been my favorite arcade racing game for a while and this one really stresses multiplayer.

If you've never played Burnout, it's about as far away from a racing sim as you can get. The point is to cause massive amounts of destruction and damage. This one is a huge change in that it is open-ended and free flowing around an entire city. There are jumps to take, billboards to smash through and wrecks to cause. The demo has the official "challenges" locked up, but you can still get multiple people in there and have a demolition derby all over town.

^^Man, I don't know if you've checked out all the Arcade downloads (in addition to the schweet demos), but you will get LOST in those, man. The smaller "arcade" games they're coming out w/right now are all incorporating live multiplayer functionality in 'em, and they're looking pretty fuckin' fun.

The only bummer about the arcade games is that the peripheral controller they sell is too small and awkward to really get the proper feel (especially the old PC-style joystick)... one of THESE would PERFECT for it (watch out for the audio ad):

I finished the half life games. Fantastic Loved just about everyminute of everyone of them. Great story, great gameplay (The gravity gun is just ridiculously sweet, especially when it would get supercharged and you could hurl bodies at people), and it really sucked me into the world the game existed in.

Cthulhu be praised!, you can't hear the singer since the voice doesn't synch up right with the music on the other end (so they just don't stream it). I was singing - I'm working my way through single player on Expert but was feeling lazy tonight.

I'd love to FPS with the Beans. The problem is that I own a pre-Intel Mac and there aren't many games available to play. I can't get UT-1999 to find any online servers. Don't know if there aren't any available or if it's because I have a hacked version.

If you figure something out, let me know. I know there are a few Open Source shooters out there that are available on all platforms. We may be able to work something out on that front, but it'll have to be after Xmas.

I hear ya about the cheaters. I only have the original Unreal and the demo for tournament. I rarely play them if at all.
I do know that Quake II has hundreds of active servers and many variations of mods to the game that make it really cool to play. I know the graphics are not comparable to what's out now on consoles. But my point is that without having to spend alot of money we could get into some interesting deathmatches.

I'm gonna keep my eye out for that UT GOTY version.

I have the CD for QII. Can probably make all the files available for everyone to install. That is if you have at least a PII pc with 64M of ram. lol

There's a real good anti cheat/bot program that goes along with the game as well. Not too long ago ID released the source code for QII and many people have been manipulating the game to create some pretty cool maps and things. If any yooz want to try it out let me know.

There is a PC GH clone called "Frets on Fire" which will let you use your own songs. You have to place the notes though, or you can dl songs that other users have made. The USB guitar is supported.

Well I signed on with guitar and no drums so you guys could drum... didn't wanna hog all the skins action. But you guys weren't playing them either. My bro wanted to play but I didn't want to end the session after 1 song so I just kept playing while he watched. Also, we tried both headsets and could hear you guys cutting in and out. I think the wired headset has a short in it and the wireless one... dunno what the problem was.
Maybe tonight we can get a full band going if one of you guys wants to play drums, otherwise I'll give 'em a go. I'll see about getting the headset thing worked out.

Russ, the games don't cost shit--maybe a couple bucks tops to unlock the full version. You go to your Dashboard and find Xbox Arcade (something close to that). And from there, you can view all the arcade games for download in alphabetical order. These are often as good as full-blown games, and equally addictive. You have to put in your credit card info once, then you can easily just buy these stupid points (I buy 'em in just big $25 chunks).

Of course, you'll wanna start w/all the old classics, like Galaga & Dig Dug, etc. Scramble is probably my top non-'Tendo favorite. Then check out Pinball FX (huuuuuge). There's a bitchin' one that's like Marble Madness, but you have to change your marble into various materials (like metal, rubber, etc.) to get through the obstacle course--I've been lovin' that one for sure.

I don't know about this Worm game what Booze speaks of, but I'm a check it out.

As I've mentioned, I've been screening a TON of these History Channel shows available on Xbox Live Video Store. Here's what I have to fully recommend (and they're each way worth the buck-fid to download):

1) Shootout - North Hollywood Bank Heist/"Massacree" - fucking EPIC.
2) Shootout - SWAT shootouts; namely, the Good Guys hostage situation in Sac'to, where five filthy gooks go in purely to take hostages and get involved in a stand-off with SWAT. (You'll see one of the dumbest moves ever made by a SWAT sniper.)
3) Shootout - The taking of Nasiriyah/Ambush Alley (The Alamo). Holy shit, was this a fucking incredible episode. You don't often get to see/hear these battles and military disasters broken down to this degree. 27 Marines killed--most by friendly fire when a full dumbass orders two A-10's to carpet-bomb an entire company in their fleet.

Yeah, any/all of these will be worth your time and dollar. I should be watching fucking Christmas movies & shows; instead, I'm watching goddamn SWAT shootouts and military disasters. No wonder I ain't schleepin' too well. (Actually, I should get back to usin' my Box for some freakin' GAMIN'!)

I'm pretty sure I unlocked it just playing solo tour on drums. I didn't mind playing Rush, I was actually digging it since it was new and had funky time signatures. Play that one anytime if we're on.

COD 4 : BEATEN Best COD yet imo, FANTASIC single player (the "Death from Above" mission whats got you in the AC-130 Gunship - HOLY SHIT:thumbsup:) awesome use of XP in the multiplayer, just wish you were able to use vehicles.

Assassins Creed : BEATEN Way too much fun. Amazing controls, crazy visuals, and leaps of faith. Great story for the most part, could've made the twists a bit more surprising. the very ending was a little lacking... just a set up for a sequel.

Mass Effect : Havnt gotten too far into this one... very complex action/rpg. great visuals, and surprisingly emotional dialogue. Same team what made that kickass rpg from reg. xbox called "Jade Empire"

Ace Combat 6 : Insane visuals, amazing contols, and fairly realistic HUD. Missions are a bit long... and the story is overdramatic to say the least. about 80% completed.

GH3 : same ole gameplay, refreshing tracklist from the lame one GH2 had uggh, so happy they through in some slayer

Rock Band w/o drum set : havnt been able to grab the drum set yet but im rocking with 2 GH controllers (bass, lead guitar) and a microphone.(doubles as tamborine and cowbell) lots of fun with a group of people, but for solo shredding GH3 shines. im guessing since rock band has 4 instruments to make tabs/notes for and GH3 only has 2, GH was able to focus more on each song and made for more interesting and challenging note structures then rock band has.

HOLY CHRIST! I just ran through some flight tutorials on Ace Combat and the graphics and feel are UNBELIEVABLY SCHWEET! I'm gonna LOVE this game! It's the kind of thing that makes you wish you had a dedicated video-game Barkalounger with the flight control sticks workin' and the volume at an ear-splitting level (like Forza). I found out a lot of info from the COD4 hardcores: Bascially, Activision's servers did NOT predict the amount of overload they'd have to bear (that is, a huge percentage of erstwhile Hayla freaks--myself included--have all gone over to COD4, so they're bearing 10x the load they expected).

I just got done playing a three-hour marathon w/my Wershin'ton friends, and it was HUGE. I'm almost at Level 55 now, and I learned one CRITICAL thing tonight: This is thee primo package to strive for and equip: M16 w/red laser scope; 3x frags; stopping power; and martyrdom. To think I've been rolling all this time w/a P90, thinking it was the shit, and in reality, the M16 3-burst rifle w/a red-dot scope (and Stopping Power for a perk) is UN-STOPPABLE. I was laughing at the kills I was able to get--your site will turn to an X at almost SNIPER range (with just a red laser scope!). Two bursts at 100 yards and they're down. It changes everything. :tip:
