SCTV was my favorite show when I was A kid growing up.It would be hard to name another show that produced as many comedy stars as SCTV did. It also was one of the pioneers of skech comedy. Anyone else love this show?
That's old school. Some damn funny people came out of that group. If I recall, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Dave Thomas, Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis all started there. Plus many more.

I remember watching it when I was a kiddie but can't recall anything specific about the show, other than that it was funny.

I've seen it a few times as reruns. Kicks ass. Can't afford the DVDs yet, but they're near top on my list.

The whole cast had John Candy, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis,Dave Thomas,Martin Short, Andrea Martin, Cathrine Ohara,Robin Duke,Tony Rosato,Harold Ramis And Joe Flahrety. Its hard to think of another show that had as many future stars as SCTV did.

This show was the topic of conversation recently at work,
I watched it alot as I had to, my older brother liked it and watched it alot, and it
was his tv. I personally thought, and still think, it was a weaker version of SNL,
just occasionally funnier than "Fridays". Never found Candy funny (except for
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles), later on (non-SCTV) Ramis, Moranis, and
Levy and Short to lesser extent had their moments, but still second rate to just
about any Not Ready For Primetime Players before and after they were on SNL.
The rest were just irritating, like Andrea Martin and Joe Flaherty, oh man, root
canal material there. But I think they thought they were pretty funny.

SCTV was one of the greatest shows ever. I wish they would release the dvd's quicker than what they are though. Check out this site here for tons of info http://www.sctvguide.ca/

I vaguely remember it. I definitely remember Bob & Doug. John Candy was funny in Stripes and Volunteers. Eugene Levy is hilarious. His small part in Vacation is classic.
Clark Griswald: Ed, this is not the car I ordered. I distinctly ordered the Antartic Blue Super Sports Wagon with C.B. and optional rally fun pack.
Ed, the car salesman: You didn't order the Metallic Pea?
Eugene Levy was also a blast in Waiting for Guffman. Out of all of those Canucks, he's my favorite.
Dr. Pearl: People say, You must have been the class clown. And I say, No, I wasn't. But I sat next to the class clown... and I studied him.

Harold Ramis as Crazy Legs
John Candy as Johnny Larue
Joe Flarerty as Guy Calvelro and Count Floyd
Eugene Levy as Earl Cannonbare

He's often overlooked but in Dave Thomas's book about SCTV, he said that Gene Levy was the cornerstone of the show in the early years.
