I know i can't be the only one on here that watches Arrested Development.... well actually... due to it's poor ratings and the fact Fox is now cancelling it, maybe i am the only one in here watching Arrested Development...
But, if anyone wants to discuss it, i just had to make this thread, this show is one of my favorite shows of all time... The writing, and the ensemble cast makes this show totally brilliant... Please check it out if you haven't yet... If you're a Phil fan, i'm sure there's something you'll like about Arrested Development...
alright, that's all... mm hmm

I've heard a lot of great things about that show. I wish I had started watching it from the beginning. I just can't jump into a show and not know what is going on. Maybe I catch it on DVD eventually. I've heard it's really funny.

fantastic show! One of the best shows to come along since Seinfeld, very groundbreaking and therefore it suffers. There is not one character on that show that doesn't have at least one hilarious line each show, it is just chock full of laughs. My favorite charcaters are Tobias and G.O.B., gotta love anthing that involves Final Countdown.
Also, it is very possible that Showtime will be picking it up for next season, so there is still hope.

yea i'm defintely keeping my fingers crossed that another network picks this show up... i'll be serverly dissapointed if it just dies... :(
but yea KungFuJesus, def. check it out if you can... rent some of the season 1 dvds or something... Gen Jameson is absoultely right about this being one of the best shows on since Seinfeld... absolute hilarity every episode...
the main problem with no viewers and ratings and all is because the show does take a couple viewings to get into... they use more callbacks on this show than any other show i can recall (minus soap operas) and it pays off to pay close attention to this show... there's every kinda joke you could want... background jokes, sublte toungue in cheek jokes, downright dirty 'subtle' jokes, meta references, ect, ect...
it is really one of those special shows that only comes around once in a blue moon... and IMO the feel of the show and comedy of the show is perfect for Phil Hendrie fans...

Guess i am a douche again. I thought the 2 or 3 episodes i watched were OK but i never got drawn into the series. I would give it another chance if it went to showtime, but i am affraid i have missed the boat for this show.

haha... that's ok etathed... foreal it does take a while for this show to sink in... I started watching during the 2nd season, and didn't really get it, so i didn't continue watching it... but I picked up the season 1 dvds anyway cause so many people were raving about them... and i probably watched them all in one sitting, i just got hooked right there....

its a great show, but it is not for everyone. I have friends where we have the exact same sense of humor, but I'm the only one who gets AD. The creators have even said they didn't think it would ever be a hit because the audience of the show is just too niche. They feel it will be a cult-like show for as long as it lasts.

I think the best way to watch Arrested Development is by the season. This meaning you need to sit down and watch the entire season on DVD. I could see not getting it as much if you just watched a few random episodes. That being said, FOX is so goddamn stupid for cancelling that show. I mean, the crap they crank out, they have to snuff the only gem that network has?

I'm sad its cancelled, but I can hardly blame FOX or get mad at them.
The first season of AD got absolutely no ratings. They renew it and move shows around it that they think will boost its ratings. It still tanks, yet they renew it for a third season. They now move it, to a better time slot and it still does nothing. They aren't in the business of charity, the show cost a bunch to produce and they were getting no ad revenues in return. Reports say that FOX was losing 800k per episode.
So while it sucks it got cancelled at least they gave it numerous chances and now we have at least three seasons to watch over and over.

I bought season 1 & 2 and am addicted to AD now. I really think this show would catch on if they let loose with the rest of season 3 and renewed for season 4.
Get the DVD's, well worth the money to have in your collection. I can watch over and over and find new material to laugh at.

Another GREAT episode form Arrested Development. They are throwing in references to the show being cancelled:
"I don't think the Home Builders Organization is going to support us," George says.
"Yeah, the HBO is not going to want us," replies Michael. "What are we going to do?"
"I think it's show time," George then says.

I still love the reference to Seinfeld a couple weeks ago.
George Sr: [reads card]... Shrinkage. Someone saw Seinfeld last night.
Also, the whole bit with Andy Richter being one of 5 siblings was hilarious.

I guess there's no limit to the douchedom of mainstream America when it comes to entertainment product. Case in point: Combover Boy has an audience. Anyway, A.D. rocked. Network T.V. blows. Which raises the question--is it even remotely possible that Phil's show Teachers WON'T blow steep, impassable mountiains of chipmunks? I get a little acid reflux welling up in my throat every time I picture Phil delivering hack one liners over a laugh track. Am I unduly skeptical? I hope I'm wrong...

Actually, this season has not been up to the standard of the previous two, so this is probably why.

I'm not a big TV watcher so I usually wait until stuff comes out on DVD so I can just watch it all. I'd suggest renting or buying season 1 if you want some context for the characters and their situations. A lot of jokes depend on stuff that's happened before to fully appreciate the humor in them.

He never said it was episodes from season 3 that he saw. It's just the type of show that won't appeal to a broad audience.

I think it would be really cool if NBC picked it up for Thursday nights and got rid of that stupid Four Kings show. Then I could watch Arrested Development, My Name is Earl, and The Office all in one night. That would be sweet.

It is one of the greatest. The only reasons I can think of for it to fail is that they pack so many plot lines and subtle innuendoes into one episode (all good things I know), that the average guy wanting to watch something to relax his brain after a hard day's work isn't going to sit still for it. Also, a lot of its humor is self-referential and inside for those who have seen the older shows so it might alienate new viewers. Damn, it is just too good a show to just vanish though.

I was skeptical at firsts about a show by "Opie". I was experiencing severe rectal bleeding from laughing so hard within five minutes. I thought they had a great line up on Sunday nights with Family Guy and American Dad (may the sweet Christ forgive me). My wife and I watched it like a crack head watches a loose 20. Once they moved it to Monday nights it threw us off completely and we just kept forgetting to watch it.
What a total GD shame it's going away. I'm definitely buying the DVDs.
