CHiPs was a massive hit here. All the kids on my estate (I believe you call them the Projects. Yep, I'm white trash :-$ ) used to go out on our bicycles after it was on, cleaning up crime & pulling chicks. I was 8.

Ironically, given the jist of this thread, I first heard Phil by accident while I was looking through a Usenet comedy newsgroup. He's completely unknown over here, but for some reason I gave it a listen. It was the Bob Green bit about the Twin Towers bra. 'Jesus', I thought, 'These Yanks really are crazy!' Then I got the gag, but never really believed it was Phil doing all the voices until I saw a webcast.
