Well, what did ya think?

I was pleasantly surprised. It was easily the most enjoyable one, for me, yet. Some funny moments and not just the ones with Phil.

The British girl is still wretched though.

She aint bad in some other stuff. But she suffers from something that seems to affect a lot of Brits when they make the move into American TV. She talks in some kind of ridiculous stereotype posh British voice that no-one uses in real life. Not in this century, anyway.

The woman who played the bird Ross was going to marry in Friends was guilty of it too.

I guess theyre told to talk like that, so that the American audience will understand them. I'm pretty sure you'd all manage without them sounding like Mary bleedin' Poppins.

Don't even get me started on the English characters in Frasier. :asskick:

How about US versions of British shows?

Some things should be left alone. I saw the US pilot for Red Dwarf and it blew. Robert Llewellen was in it and he had to be embarassed.

Ive only seen a clip of it, in a Red Dwarf documentary that was on the BBC. I heard it stank the place up, but I didnt know Llewellyn was in it.

There have been loads of US remakes of British shows, & most of them have been big spattery turds. I know Mr Hendrie slags off the US Office, but for me thats an exception. It aint as good as the UK version, but I like it, & it has got good reviews over here.

I suppose the reason that the US networks have to remake UK shows is because of the running times & the amount of commercials you have to fit in over there. Plus the fact that your seasons usually have about 3 times as many episodes as ours do. But wouldn't it make more sense to hire the original cast & writers?

It's not just a one way street though. There have been a few attempts to make Brit versions of American shows. You ought to see the UK rehashes of Who's The Boss (The Upper Hand) & The Golden Girls (Brighton Belles). I dont know why they bothered in the first place.

I mean, how could you have the Golden Girls without Bea Arthur?

(Sorry if this has gone a bit :offtopic: )

Come to think of it, the only one that I am aware of that worked was Sanford and Son, based on the British Steptoe and Son. But that's only because of Redd Foxx. Any other actor and it would've tanked, I'm sure.
