Hey, it might be liberal, but it's still waayy more funnier and entertaining than the standard Fox News/CNN fare...and whoever says it's dangerous that people use this as their main news source must have a pretty low opinion of the American public because, in my opinion, it's pretty easy to ascertain what material on this show is legitimate news and what material is simply satirical in nature.

I enjoy the show, but whenever he has a democrat politition as the guest, I have to turn it off, as I just can't stand the ensuing love-fest.

I think I watched the first season and not much since. Nothing personal, JON STEWART.

I didn't think that show would last too long after Kilborn left, but boy was I wrong. Stewart has been great on that show.
Kilborn moved to the Late Late Show and royally blew Kong. I could take him in 30 minute doses on the Daily Show. However, after a single 1 hour dose I realized that Kilborn really is a smarmy douche-bag that believes his own hype. I just thought he was playing it up on the Daily Show. Turns out, he was just being himself.
Stewart lends some class to that show and the writing is still strong.

Not funny. I'll be lucky to get one laugh in the entire half-hour show. Not worth watching.

The sad fact is that some people's largest dose of news is the Daily Show. Most Americans knowledge of politics and world events comes from those 30 sec. radio snipets or reading the headlines while walking past the newspaper box. Combine that with their only "newscast" being the Daily Show and that tends to make a very ignorant person into a very ignorant voter. Or as I like to say, a Democrat. (j/k  Had to sneak that in!)
The Daily Show can be funny. I'm not disputing that. It's just that from what I noticed Jon Stewart was very balanced in poking fun at both sides the first season he was on the show. It just seems that as his job became more secure he felt free to let his personal liberal bias dominate the show. The next time he has Howard Dean on they'll probably end up making out. I don't mind seeing Republicans made fun of when they say something stupid. That's fair game and makes great comedy. But the Democrats do it just as much and never seem to catch as much heat from the Daily Show anymore. I mean on their little "let's make fun of this person" interviews, they target mainly people who could be described as conservative. The very religious and what-not. Evey now and then they'll throw a hippie under the tracks but anybody who watches the show has to admit that conservatives are the primary target. Thats what I think is the most glaring indicator of Jon Stewart's liberal bias. The typical liberal disdain for anybody in "flyover" territory. Midwesterners, Southerners, bascially people they see as hicks or rednecks. I just feel he needs to stop fooling people and call the show what it is. "The Daily Making Fun of Conservatives Show" or "The Daily Let's Hurt Bush and Help the DNC Show".

We've just started to get The Daily Show in the UK and I have to say that it's a fantastic show. Always used to watch Letterman, but The Daily Show is so much better and has that little bit of Brass Eye in it.

It's a comedy show, not a news show. If his liberal bias comes out, that's ok. Just like if Phil wants to support Bush and his war, that's ok, too. Don't hold a goofy little show on COmedy Central to the same journalistic standards that you would ABC news.

Dont tell that to the Television Critics Association. They have given the Daily show 2 awards for OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN NEWS & INFORMATION. Beating out the other nominees...60 Minutes, Meet the Press, The News Hour with Jim Lehrer, and Nightline!

That's just embarassing. In Stewart's aftermentioned Crossfire encounter, he makes the same point about his show being a comedy show not a news show. Of course, the term "Television Critic" is problematic, at best.

Ok, I am most decidedly independent in my views, and I consider that show to be entertainment, pure and simple.. And it cracks me up, most times... I guess he's fallen into a bit of a schtick that he knows will work, and doesn't really care if people bash him... He basically has a pretty sweet setup.. cause he can say just about anything he wants, and just tell you he was kidding if you call him on it... I hardly think the Daily Show is something in need of deep analysis... Except that is definitely should not be winning awards for NEWS..... If that's true, that is absurd...

I'm politically to the right of Micheal Savage. I have to admit, Jon Stewart is funny. I shudder to think of the effect on people's beliefs he must have, though. It's gotten more and more of a dem gay love fest since the last presidential election. I thought he was going to give John McCain oral pleasure a few weeks back. And, please, don't tell me that McCain is a Republican.

Not to flame, by any means, this is an honest question: who do you consider as a good representative of a republican?
Dr. P

Well, I guess I should start by saying I'm not a Republican. I'm registered unaffiliated, and bascially want small government, less government involvement in the private sector, and no income or property tax. But that might be another thread. For who seems to me like a classical representative of a republican? Steve Largent or Zell Miller.

Hey Russy, I saw that show and Stewart was totally hot for McCain, it was pathetic. Speaking of McCain, that guy is a total R.I.N.O. pardon the Savage reference but it's true.
