Anyone here a George Carlin fan?
I "Saw" his last HBO special, not funny, way too serious. Let's face it; Carlin is better when he's all drugged up.

Agreed. I used to be a die-hard Carlin fan until I found Hendrie. George's stylings hasn't evolved the last couple of stand ups that he has done. OK! We get it George, you are constipated and have a big shitty stick in your ass. Now pull it out and move on with your life.

He also has joined the Hollywood Elite which makes him even more of a douche bag. My family tells me he is always he is on Bill Mahr. The first sign of a wash-up (and it sort of breaks my heart becaused he used to be a great.)

I agree as well. He seems to have crossed funny, witty, and intelligent to angry, bitter, and bitchy. Too bad, he has been very insightful.

It's a damn shame because Carlin was a true genious, and not just on drugs. His 90's material as well as his Complaints and Greviances in 2000 were excellent, and he was, for the most part, clean.

However he sucks now. Which is a damn shame

As far as stand-up comedians go, the guy had a great run! Top 5 all time stand up ranking:
1. Richard Pryor
2. Eddie Murphy
3. Chris Rock
4. George Carlin
5. Bill Hicks or Sam Kinison or... I'm only definite on the first four.

Left off: Lenny Bruce. I realize he was a groundbreaker, but no one really LAUGHS at his stuff, do they?

I've always considered George to be one of the funniest and most intelligent comedians of all time. However, he is getting quite aged so of course he will probably soften up and become less funny as a matter of course. All I can say is that his material will hold up to the best for many many years to come. Georgie, if you're reading this I still love ya. Just quit with the books. They are getting less funny with each release. Brain Droppings = Great. Napalm and Silly Putty = Good. When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops = So So. I guess that the next one will probably = bad or not so good.

Actually what made him great might be what also is ruining him.

If you noticed around the time when George's wife died his comedy he became very dark which was good for about 5 years or so but the main problem is he hasn't really evovled beyond that angry humor .

While his stuff has always had a bitter side, I see the new stuff and all I can think of is some crotchety old bastard who hates everything, i.e. Lloyd Bonafide without humor.

His old stuff is timeless, though.
