Apple takes over your TV

I'm looking for Apple to put out a fully integrated system...phone, computer, TV that's voice, iOS device controlled.

I think the obsession with voice technology is a bit misguided. It's the same as all the 3-D stuff the TV makers have been trying to market: okay, it's cool, but is it really necessary? Is it done well? Does it make my life any easier?

I don't care how well it works--I'm gonna feel like an asshole talking to my TV. "Okay, Siri, find me some Mr. Ed reruns!....Siri? Hello, Siri?"

Come on, everyone talks to their TVs...whether you're yelling at the coach not to put the white guy in the game or yelling at the director of the "art film" you're watching to focus more on her tits and less on his face. You already look crazy....might as well be crazy AND effective.

Good points. I thought multi-angle porno was going to be the next big thing, but it never caught on. Here's an innovation--porn that never shows the guy's face under any circumstances. Why is this such a hard concept to grasp?

I have the Apple TV set-top box and the interface is great. I'll occasionally use the Xbox Kinect voice control features and they work really well watching movies and such. I can see combining a good interface with good voice control working very well for whoever gets it right.

Mainly iTunes rentals. If you have a Mac, it interfaces exactly the way you wish it would. If you have a pc, xbox interfaces better.

Call me old fashioned, but I like the tivo and think it the benchmark of user friendliness; which it outdoes Apple somewhat. Plus while it might not have the iProstate like the AppleTV, it will have a 1080p Clitoris dongle in next series (but they've been promising that for a while).
